Didn't know you've visited Africa before..., I traced this post from your archive. It's a cool country...

I've only been to Sierra Leone - It feels like a lifetime ago now but I still remember being struck by how little (possessions, etc.), people had but they were still happy. A simpler life perhaps.
I'll never forget one of the villagers wanting to touch our skin - because he'd never seen a white person before. Some moments were very surreal.
Where in Sierra Leone are your relatives? Hopefully they're by the coast - Salone has some of the most beautiful beaches that I've ever visited.
That sounds like a great memory.
That goes as far as proving that material possessions isn't an answer to happiness.
I think Africans in general are hospitable and are always delighted seeing visitors of such. If you had stayed a little longer..., they would teach you their language and many other things about their country.
They are in BO town, Sierra Leone.
They have lived in Sierra Leone for the past 20years. The visit home some times.
That's much further inland than I was - I preferred to spend my time along the beautiful beaches 🙂
I would likely visit there by next year.
