That is exactly why they exist. But I feel as if the noble intention of delivering non biased factual and verified news has been warped and perverted over the decades to support some thinly veiled narrative that the powers that be clumsily put forth again and again. The only solid evidence of this paranoid conspiracy Im suggesting (besides of course the obvious) is any copy of the Associated Press' Style Book from years ago. A simple guide for journalists doestic and foriegn writing all the kind of news the public will read. The main focus of the first few rules was integrity, accuracy, and to be presented without any bias even if it is against your personal beliefs. The code of ethics journalists are expected to adhere to is serious and I think should be regarded as simililar to the oath doctors take to do no harm. Search for any news agency that you consider reliable and really examine if they are stoic in tone and presenting the news without subconsciously or purposefully portraying it with their personal bias. They are responsible for protecting truth, holding governments accountable and in turn protecting their fellow citizens by ensuring they have the facts to make decisions that will impact their lives. Hearing broadcasters make fun of or endorse politicians is appalling when they should hold themselves to higher standards.
