Dear Steemians, Dear Steemit Team!

Another week has passed with the Phantom Curators doing their job, another week with both good news and cause for concern...

My anonymous partner in this round was @wlin. The Venezuelan author has been active on Steem since April 2024 and rightly enjoys a reputation as an excellent writer who naturally has an eye for the informative and original value of a post and clearly enjoys intensive communication with other users. For me, these qualities are exactly what is needed to fill this role as community curator.

I was impressed by our collaboration from the very beginning; Wilfredo takes a focused and systematic approach and makes his time available unconditionally. He constantly monitors himself, which makes his results precise and comprehensible. Of course, the dialogue with each other was a pleasure, and I can only conclude this praise with the recommendation: if anyone ever needs an “accomplice” for a labor-intensive, responsible project, you can't go wrong with @wlin. If anyone gives 100%, it's him!

Our impressions during the curation process:

I have noticed that there is no shortage of good and interesting contributions. However, and this makes them unvoteable according to our priorities, the authors are currently undergoing Power Downs. This applies to long-term users who do not appear to be resorting to this measure in acute emergencies or as if their daily livelihood depended on it. Instead, let's not kid ourselves, it looks like a controlled departure from a doomed environment and damage control in the face of imminent total loss.

Is there a way to stop these actually reliable pillars of the system? They have kept Steem alive for years and shaped it with their texts and personalities. I think not voting for them because they simply have no hope left for a turnaround in the trend of this platform is sending the wrong signal...

@wlin, for his part, pointed out to me—and I'm actually a little embarrassed that it was necessary—that a closer examination of AI-generated texts (and I don't mean the use of translators or initial inspiration from AI) is not only appropriate for new or unknown authors. No, even long-time Steemians, whom we know as familiar and eloquent bloggers from a time when AI was not yet an issue, sometimes use this “shortcut” to posting, this easier (but indecent) way.

I don't want to mention any names here; I'm not interested in denouncing individuals. But we need to find a way to make it clear that it's not okay to save yourself the effort of thinking and researching for yourself. It's not okay to pass off a synthetic text as your own. It's not okay to take it for granted that you'll receive high votes for it. As examples, I would like to mention Communities such as Steem Agro, Nature and Agriculture, and Steem4Nigeria, where this unfortunate phenomenon occurs with particular frequency (although we notice it across Communities in general and also outside of Communities). At least in the moderated Communities, I would like to see more mindfulness on the part of the moderation teams.

This is exciting because it is also an irrefutable sign of the individuality, uniqueness, and special nature of us humans. But actually, the description of a grounded, down-to-earth life, everyday yet satisfying necessities – in the face of terrible world politics and nasty personal dramas – evokes a feeling of connectedness, peace and humanity.

Personally, I find tattoos very appealing and wonder why we read so little about them on Steem. Here we see the work of an artist who not only interprets standard motifs in a surprisingly fresh way, but also tattoos with precision, orienting himself to the respective anatomy and taking pride in his work.

Eine weitere Woche haben die Phantom Kuratoren ihren Dienst getan, eine weitere Woche gab es Erfreuliches und Besorgnis Erregendes…

Mein anonymer Partner in dieser Runde war @wlin. Der venezolanische Autor ist seit April 2024 auf dem Steem aktiv und genießt zu Recht den Ruf eines exzellenten Schreibers, der natürlich ein Auge für den informativen und originellen Wert eines Beitrags hat, und erfreut sich sichtlich der intensiven Kommunikation mit anderen Nutzern. Für mich sind diese Eigenschaften genau passend, diese Funktion als Community Kurator zu besetzen.

Die Zusammenarbeit hat mich vom ersten Moment an beeindruckt; Wilfredo geht fokussiert und systematisch vor; seine Zeit stellt er bedingungslos zur Verfügung. Er kontrolliert sich selbst permanent und ist dadurch in seinen Ergebnissen präzise und nachvollziehbar. Natürlich war der Dialog miteinander ein Vergnügen und ich kann diese Lobhudelei nur abschließen mit der Empfehlung: falls jemand ‚mal einen „Komplizen“ braucht für ein arbeitsintensives, verantwortungsvolles Projekt: mit @wlin macht Ihr garantiert keinen Fehler. Wenn jemand 100% gibt, dann er!

Zu unseren Eindrücken während der Kuration:

Mir ist aufgefallen, daß es gar nicht unbedingt an guten und interessanten Beiträgen mangelt. Allerdings, und das macht sie nach unseren Prioritäten, unvotebar – die Autoren sind in aktuellen Power Downs begriffen. Das betrifft Langzeitnutzer, bei denen es gerade nicht wirkt, als ob sie in akuten Notlagen auf dieses Mittel zurückgreifen oder als ob der tägliche Lebensunterhalt davon abhängig wäre. Sondern, machen wir uns nichts vor, es wirkt wie kontrolliertes Verlassen einer dem Untergang geweihten Umgebung und Schadensminderung vor dem drohenden Totalverlust.

Gibt es einen Weg, diese eigentlich zuverlässigen Säulen des Systems aufzuhalten? Sie halten den Steem seit Jahren am Leben und prägen ihn mit ihren Texten und Persönlichkeiten. Ich denke, sie nicht zu voten, weil sie schlicht keine Hoffnung mehr haben auf eine Kehrtwende im Trend dieser Plattform, ist ein falsches Signal…

@wlin seinerseits hat mich darauf gebracht – und das ist mir tatsächlich etwas peinlich, daß es nötig war -, daß eine genauere Prüfung auf KI generierte Texte (und ich meine nicht, die Nutzung von Übersetzern oder die anfängliche Inspiration durch eine KI) nicht nur bei neuen oder einem selbst unbekannten Autoren angebracht ist. Nein, langjährige Steemians, die man als geläufige und wortgewandte Blogger aus einer Zeit kennt, wo KI noch kein Thema war, selbst die nutzen teilweise diese „Abkürzung“ zum Post, diesen leichteren (aber unanständigen) Weg.

Ich will hier keine Namen nenne, es geht mir nicht um das Anprangern einzelner Personen; aber wir müssen einen Weg finden klarzustellen: es ist eben nicht okay, sich die Mühe eigener Überlegungen und Recherchen zu sparen. Es ist nicht okay, einen synthetischen Text als eigenen auszugeben. Es ist nicht okay, dafür wie selbstverständlich teilweise hohe Votes zu kassieren. Exemplarisch möchte ich Communities wie Steem Agro, Nature and Agriculture und Steem4Nigeria nennen, bei denen diese leidige Erscheinung deutlich gehäuft auftritt (obwohl wie es generell Community-übergreifend und auch abseits der Communities bemerken). Zumindest in den moderierten Communities würde ich mir mehr Achtsamkeit von Seiten der Moderationsteams wünschen.

Es gibt immer Orte, deren Architektur von der Norm ihrer Zeit und Region abweicht. Das ist spannend, denn es ist auch ein unbestreitbares Zeichen für die Individualität, Einzigartigkeit und Besonderheit von uns Menschen. Die Wertschätzung für diese Abweichung von der Norm wird in jeder Zeile des Beitrags deutlich.

Man kann natürlich über Weltpolitik oder persönliche Dramen schreiben. Das ist toll. Aber eigentlich ruft die Beschreibung eines bodenständigen, realistischen Lebens, alltäglicher, aber erfüllender Bedürfnisse – angesichts schrecklicher Weltpolitik und hässlicher persönlicher Dramen – ein Gefühl der Verbundenheit, des Friedens und der Menschlichkeit hervor.

Ich persönlich finde Tätowierungen sehr ansprechend und frage mich, warum wir auf dem Steem so wenig darüber lesen. Hier sehen wir die Arbeit eines Künstlers, der nicht nur Standardmotive auf überraschend frische Weise interpretiert, sondern auch präzise tätowiert, sich an der jeweiligen Anatomie orientiert und stolz auf seine Arbeit ist.

Der Text ist ein unverblümter Akt der Anklage und Katharsis, ein wirkungsvolles Manifest gegen verdeckten emotionalen Missbrauch innerhalb der Familie. Es handelt sich um eine literarische Übung, die den Leser mit der Vorstellung konfrontiert, dass mütterliche Liebe zu einer zerstörerischen Kraft werden kann, wenn sie es versäumt, Werte zu vermitteln und das Verhalten ihrer Kinder im Rahmen dieser Werte zu korrigieren.
