Personally, I don't like receiving bouquets of flowers, but I do appreciate it when someone gives me a flowering plant. I don't like seeing flowers die without their plant.
I also like your tree. Those are aerial roots that seek to firmly anchor the trunk of the tree to the ground. They succeed, but because they are superficial, they are also vulnerable to being torn from their base in a storm. Anyway, that's nature for you.
