I think the moral is more than just, how to be abused as a mother. I think it is the respect and appreciation we owe to our most loved one. To the being that has been with us for so long and, in which we only think about taking from him/her and not giving him/her everything we can, for the gift of his/her surrender.
We only see what we had when we no longer have it.
That's so true especially the "regret" expressed when it's too late. The truth is that the average parent is seen as a burden.
