Let's talk about Orthopedics
Are you feeling well friends? Sure this post finds you healthy. Title of this challenge is "Let's talk about Orthopedics". So I'll share my knowledge about this topic. Let's learn more.
◉Do you know what orthopedics is? Can you give us some information? |
---|
I am not an expert in orthopedics, but in my thoughts, dental orthopedics is about helping our jaw and bones grow the right way. It’s mostly for kids, I guess, when their teeth are all over the place or there is not enough space.
Dentists use some kind of devices, not scary ones, only small stuff, to guide how everything grows. It is kinda like training wheels but for our mouth, we know? If it is done early, this can save many problems later.
◉At what age can orthopedic devices be used? |
---|
I have heard and read, the best time is when kids are still growing, like maybe around 6 to 12 years old. That is when the bones in the jaw are soft and are easy to guide. If we wait too long, it gets harder, you know? Early is better because we can fix small issues before they turn into big ones.

I think dentists check kids at that age and decide if they need it. This is like a kind of set a small crack before it becoming a big hole.
◉Do you know the difference between orthodontics and orthopedics? |
---|
Yes I know, these sound super similar but they are not really the same thing. Orthopedics is more about the jaw and how the bones grow. It is something they usually do when kids are still little.

Orthodontics, though, that is more about straightening the teeth, like with braces and all. So I guess one thing about the base and the other’s about the finish. If our jaw is not growing right, we need orthopedics first.

Later, maybe orthodontics, depending on our teeth. So yes, both help smile, just in different ways.
◉Advantages of using orthopedics before orthodontics. |
---|
Honestly, starting with orthopedics just makes things smoother. Like, if your jaw is shaped right from the beginning, then when your real teeth come in, there’s already space. Braces, if you need them later, don’t have to work as hard. Sometimes, people don’t even need braces at all. Plus, it helps with chewing and even speaking sometimes.

And let’s be real, early treatment saves money too. I guess it’s kinda like laying a good foundation before building a house. That’s what makes orthodontics easier later.
