Altair Tower - Colombo

Altair Tower, one of the fascinating tower design, which was trending in social media's in Sri Lanka some times back. This wonderful creation of modern engineering is located in the city of Colombo, which is the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. The interesting architectural feature of this building is the two interlocking towers, which make this building one of the unique landmark in the city of Colombo.

This building basically has two different towers. The highest tower is around 240m in hight and it has 68 floors and the other tower is around 210 m tall and it has 63 floors. The application of this tower is , it's an apartment project. This building contains around 400 luxury apartments. As it's an apartment project, this building contains lot of facilities such as swimming pools, gyms, clubs, walking paths etc. This Altair tower is a proof for the development of modern civil engineering, specially structural engineering technologies. And the price of this one apartment in 2012 was around LKR 125,000,000 LKR, which ice for a lowest grade apartment, and approximately 3,155,231 Steem. Hopefully we will be able to express in lesser steem numbers next year.

In the above figure you can see a similar tower which is little bit higher than the Altair tower, but Altair is very famous, it's not about the hight, it's about this unique design. Talking about the design, they have also considered the safety seriously. This building is able to withstand and stable to an earthquakes up to a magnitude 7. Even Sri Lanka is not a name when comes to mind when we talk about earthquakes, they have thought about it. But I have heard that in countries like Japan, this is a very serious concern when designing buildings.

Somehow we captured few photos with this beautiful Altair tower. Actually these were not planned photo's , we were attending some other work. But we had to stop the vehicle at this point for some other work. So we were able to capture some photos with this tower.
