Power problem and successful repair of a charger fan that has been lying for a long time.

How are you all? I hope you are well. I am also well today. I will share with you a rechargeable table fan repair. In this era of technology, electrical appliances are an integral part of our daily lives. Especially in summer, table fans are an important device, which gives us comfort. I am an electrician and do minor electronic repairs. Recently, a friend of mine came to me for repair of a charger table fan, which was unused for almost two years. Due to not being used for a long time, its switch, indicator light and battery output were not working.

I observed it carefully, identified the problem and made the necessary repairs step by step. By changing the switch, fixing the indicator light and reactivating the battery output, I was able to make the fan usable again. In this post, I have tried to detail the experience and solution process of this work, which may also be useful to others.

Step 1: Fan observation and initial test

First of all, I brought the charger table fan to my work table. Then I connected the fan to the 220-volt AC line. After connecting, I saw that the red power indicator light of the fan was on, which means the power connection is fine. However, the fan blades were not spinning, which means the fan was not turning on for some reason. Then I decided to open the fan and find the problem inside, and for this I prepared a screwdriver.

Step 2: Open the fan and clean the dirt

I opened the back cover of the fan and reached the internal circuit. There were some screws attached there, which I carefully removed. Then I saw that a lot of dust and dirt had accumulated inside the circuit due to being closed for a long time.

I removed the black rubber covers on the switches and thoroughly rubbed a small amount of machine oil inside each switch so that the switches worked smoothly again.

Step 3: Power test and soldering problem solving

After cleaning the switches, I gave the fan 220-volt AC input again. Now I see that about 7 volts DC output is being received from the power supply unit, which I confirm by measuring with a meter. At the same time, the input voltage is reaching the controlling circuit correctly, and the output is also being given to the battery from the charging part.

However, I notice that the solder connections at the base of the switch are a little loose. Probably due to long-term absence of use and later excessive movement after the switch jams. The solders become loose. I resolder these places well and strengthen them.

Step 4: Successful repair and result

After completing all the work, when I input 220 volts to the fan again, I see that the fan is working—the blades are spinning and blowing air. That is, the fan is fully functional after the repair. Probably, there was a problem with its switch, soldering connections and circuit due to long-term non-use. In reality, if a device is left lying around for a long time, it can easily get damaged.

As you can see in the picture, the fan blades are spinning, which means it is now working. To prove the authenticity of the work, I also took a selfie standing next to the fan, which proves the success of my repair.

By repairing an old and useless charger fan, I have proven that with a little care and electronic knowledge, many devices can be made functional again. Even if minor faults occur due to long-term disuse, they can be resolved with proper observation and repair. Regular use and care are the most important things to ensure that the device works for a longer time in the future
