I hope all my Steemit friends are well. Today I will share my entry in the Homemade Tomato and Garlic Ketchup competition organized by @afzalqamar sir in Steemit Challenge Season 27 Week 01. I was very excited to participate in the competition. Our teacher has brought us a great lesson on Homemade Tomato and Garlic Ketchup for which I sincerely thank him.

Prepare Homemade Herbal Ketchup with Garlic. Share complete step by step process. At the end share the handwritten username and date with Ketchup.

I gathered all the ingredients needed to make homemade tomato and garlic ketchup. The ingredients are as follows:

Easy preparation method:

Step 1:

  • First I took fresh tomatoes and washed them very well in clean water. Then I chopped the tomatoes.

Step 2:

  • Now I put the chopped tomato pieces in a pot, add a cup of water so that the tomatoes cook easily. Then I put the pot on the stove.

Step 3:

I added 6 cloves of garlic to the tomatoes, then covered the pot with a lid so that the tomatoes and garlic cloves cooked together. It took me five minutes to complete this process.

Step 4:

  • I cooled the cooked tomato and garlic mixture. Then I took it in a mixer jar and blended it. Now it has become a paste.

Step 5:

  • For better results, I strained the blended tomato garlic paste using a strainer. The straining resulted in the tomato seeds and skins.

Step 6:

  • I poured the strained mixture back into the pot and kept the heat on low. Now I added salt, sugar, and chili powder to taste.

Step 7:

  • Now I added half a cup of vinegar. Then I stirred everything with a spoon. I kept the stove on low heat and kept stirring until a thick ketchup was formed. I kept the stove on low heat so that it did not stick to the bottom of the pot.

Step 8:

  • I simmered the mixture on low heat for eight to ten minutes. Now the ketchup is thick and perfect.

Step 9:

  • I cooled the ketchup and then stored it in a clean glass jar. Storing ketchup this way keeps its flavor intact for a long time. This homemade ketchup is as delicious as it is healthy.

Did you face any difficulty in the preparation of the ketchup at home?

No, I had no difficulty making ketchup at home. I was a little scared at first whether I would be able to make a smooth and thick ketchup. Also, whether I would be able to do it perfectly, which requires coordination to maintain the perfect balance of sour, sweet and spicy. But when I carefully watched and followed the lesson given by our teacher, I was satisfied with the end result. I am very happy that I was able to make delicious and healthy ketchup at home. I really enjoyed the experience of making ketchup at home.

What do you say about the taste and freshness of the homemade ketchup which you have prepared as compared to the market ketchup?

The taste and freshness of homemade ketchup is incomparable compared to market ketchup. The taste of homemade ketchup is brighter and fresher compared to market ketchup. Because for homemade ketchup we use fresh tomatoes, home-made spices and few preservatives. That is why the taste of homemade ketchup is more vibrant and healthy. On the other hand, market-made ketchup uses more preservatives to preserve it for a long time. It also uses high amounts of sugar or corn syrup which is risky for our health. We all love to eat ketchup, but if we eat homemade ketchup instead of market ketchup, it is very beneficial and healthy for our health.
