Varendra Research Museum is the first museum in Bangladesh and is located in the heart of Rajshahi city. Varendra Research Museum is a rich collection of archaeology, which is one of the most famous in South Asia. The Barendra Research Museum was established on the personal initiative of these three people: Ramaprasad Chanda, Kumar Saratkumar Roy and Akshaykumar Maitreya. The Varendra Research Society, established in April 1910, is known as the creator of this museum.
This museum was established on a personal initiative in 1910, currently this museum is run by the University of Rajshahi. Varendra Research Museum has contributed to the preservation of archaeological collections and historical architecture. This museum has various archaeological artifacts from the Pala, Sena, Maurya, Gupta periods, which highlight different aspects of the history and culture of Bangladesh. The Varendra Research Museum has a rich collection of various manuscripts and a library, where rare books and magazines are preserved.

As soon as you enter the main gate of the Varendra Research Museum, you will see a tall pillar of ancient craftsmanship standing at the main gate. The skillful work of skilled craftsmen of ancient times, proudly showing the tradition of ancient artwork. The garden in front of the museum is well-decorated and well-maintained, which creates a stir in the minds of the visitors coming here.

The main building of the museum will be visible after crossing the well-maintained garden. The vast museum is located over a wide area. The entire premises of the Varendra Research Museum are painted in gray. Upon entering the museum, you will meet an official in charge at the counter. He records the names and addresses of the visitors coming here in the registered book. No ticket is required to enter the Varendra Research Museum. You can enter the Varendra Research Museum without any ticket and see the ancient architecture preserved here. On Fridays, a crowd of visitors is observed in this museum on holidays.

The Varendra Research Museum has gained a touch of modernity over time. The entire museum is controlled by CCTV cameras. Modern lighting system as well as modern electric fans. There is a security guard in each gallery for maintenance. There are some warning messages for visitors in each gallery. There is also a modern fire extinguisher.
Ancient architecture recovered from various places is arranged in rows on the balcony of the museum. On the other side is an ancient printing machine. Which was used to print newspapers in ancient times. This historic printing machine represented the spread of messages in ancient times.
Arabic Calligraphy Gallery
After entering the museum's decorated gallery, the first gallery that caught my eye was an ancient stone tablet engraved with Arabic calligraphy, displayed inside a wooden display case. These are preserved in the museum as Islamic scripts.
A unique example of present-day Bangladesh has been revealed.
Household items used in ancient times are arranged in wooden displays.
Archaeological artifacts recovered from various places are beautifully displayed in the gallery.
The various tribal communities of our country have played a helpful role in establishing the roots of Bangladesh's tradition on a solid foundation. This gallery displays various tools used by the tribes in their daily lives.
This gallery displays metal-made ornaments. The ornaments on display include metal bangles, bracelets, bangles, bracelets, nupurs, hansulis, mals, chandrahars, etc. Also, the ancient works of traditional Nakshi Kantha of Bangladesh are displayed in this exhibition. The ancient traditional jute-made shikke has been included in the exhibition.
An exhibition built in memory of Queen Bhabani of Dighapati, Natore. It has been built at the heart of the Varendra Research Museum. Also, some of the weapons and armor used by Queen Bhabani are displayed as souvenirs in this museum.

The museum's special collection exhibition features rare books or manuscripts. The collection shown in the picture is of historical manuscripts like Bhanumati's Wedding, Parijat Harnagayan Palagan.

What a fantastic tour! You guided us from the entrance through several of the exhibits. I loved the sculptures and weapons.
One suggestion: get used to recording with your phone held horizontally. It will look that way when you view it.
