Baitul Mukarram National Mosque

Today, I will share information about our country's national mosque, Baitul Mukarram. I have been working in our country's capital, Dhaka, since 2014, but I have never been able to go and pray at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. To participate in the fourth week of the Steemit challenge session 24 using this week's Steem-atlas map, I went to pray at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and sat down to write about its history.

History and Location of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque:
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque is located in Paltan, the heart of our country's capital, Dhaka. Forty thousand Muslims can pray in the mosque at a time. The mosque was built like the holy Kaaba in Saudi Arabia, so the mosque's importance in our country is very high. Before independence in 1971, our country was part of Pakistan. In 1959, during the then Pakistan period, a prominent businessman started the construction of the mosque together with the Pakistan government. Then, in 1965, the construction of the mosque was completed. The area of ​​the mosque is 2694 square meters. Later, after our country's independence, the mosque became the national mosque.

There are several gates to enter the mosque. However, there are two main entrance gates on the north and south sides of the mosque. The mosque has a main room where the imam leads the prayer. The six-story mosque has many rooms. During Eid prayers and Friday prayers, the mosque is packed with people. Sometimes, people pray on the street if there is no space inside the mosque. There are large shopping malls on all sides of the mosque's ground floor. There is a place for ablution and a washroom in the middle of the ground floor. About two hundred people can perform ablution at a time.

A tall minaret is visible after entering the mosque through the south gate. After climbing the stairs, a large area of ​​the mosque's prayer space has no ceiling. People from different parts of the country come to this part to pray and see the beauty. I entered the mosque to pray the afternoon prayer. I had never prayed in the Baitul Mukarram Mosque before, so I had to take help from a few people. I stayed inside the mosque for about two hours.

The main room of the mosque is air-conditioned. There is a facility for reciting the Quran inside the mosque, as well as for drinking pure water for the worshippers. The rooms outside the main room of the mosque are equipped with fans. A room is kept for women to pray. Then I went to the north gate of the mosque. It took me ten minutes to go from the south gate to the north gate. There are various rules and regulations for praying inside the mosque.

There is room for the funeral prayers of the deceased. Then, there is a library in the mosque. I entered the library and saw numerous Islamic books. I read some of them. Since the mosque is our country's national mosque, there is a government office here. The National Moon Sighting Committee decides from this mosque.

While leaving for Maghrib prayers, I took a few pictures inside the mosque at night. Then, I went to the shopping mall below the mosque. I have always heard the name Baitul Mukarram Shopping Mall on the radio or television. Today, I entered the shopping mall. The shopping mall has different types of hats, perfumes, and Punjabi clothing. The prices of hats and perfumes are very low. In the evening, hawkers sell products at low prices around the mosque.

People from different parts of the country come to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to pray, so there is a car parking facility next to the mosque. I often wander around inside the mosque. Then I come out after offering Maghrib prayers in the evening. After offering prayers at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque for the first time, I feel very peaceful.
