Market Friday: (01 August, 2025) Exploring the Sitakunda Upazila Street Market..
Hello friends, today I'm going to share my Friday market visit activities with you. On my day off on Fridays, I sometimes visit our local markets, and when I like something, I buy it.
This Friday, I visited the Sitakunda Upazila market. This market sets up every Friday on the road adjacent to the highway in the Sitakunda municipality area. Many customers from far and wide come here to buy their necessary items.
You can see hundreds of temporary stalls set up on both sides of the road. There are also permanent shops, but the temporary stalls only operate on Fridays. Sellers on vans sell clothes, fruits, vegetables, various traditional foods, home decor items, and much more.
I visited in the afternoon, which is when the market gets crowded. I walked along the roadside, passing one temporary stall after another. My walk might end, but the number of shops here seems endless.
I noticed many female customers bargaining for women's house clothes sold from vans. You can buy many of the same types of clothes that are sold at high prices in the market for a lower price from these vans.
Mothers crowd around these vans for children's clothes. You might be surprised to know that you can get 2 pieces of children's clothing for just 100 Bdt/0.82 USD here. Women's clothes are available start from 50-200 Bdt/0.41-1.64 USD.
After walking a little further, I came across a line of fruit sellers. Most of these sellers are local farmers. The advantage of buying from them is that you get fresh fruits directly from their own trees.
I first visited a few fruit stalls. The market had almost all seasonal and year-round fruits. Regular fruits included mangoes, jackfruit, apples, pineapples, guavas, oranges, bananas, and dragon fruit. I also saw several new seasonal fruits.
I saw a seller selling pomelos. Since pomelo is a seasonal fruit, I hadn't eaten any this year yet. So, I bargained and bought a large pomelo for 80 Bdt/0.65 USD. It was heavy in weight and big in size.
As I was walking through the market, it was almost evening. Just before sunset, the permanent shops started turning on their lights. After the lights were turned on, the market's look became even more vibrant. I then noticed that the number of customers started to increase.
I spent about 1.5 hours visiting the various shops in the Sitakunda market. I didn't have much to buy, but I enjoy visiting different shops and seeing new things at the market.
As I was heading back to the bus stand, I passed the Sitakunda Secure City Market. I thought I'd visit the ground floor of the market. I spent some time inside.
On the ground floor of the market, I saw a super shop, shoe brand showrooms, clothing stores, and some branded bakeries. Although I didn't visit any specific store, I had a good time enjoying the atmosphere of the market.
This Friday, I visited the Sitakunda municipal market, saw some new fruits, and enjoyed the evening atmosphere of the market. I bought a pomelo, some grocery items, and some food. This was my experience of the Friday market visit.
