Homemade Tomato and Basil Ketchup

I am @samhunnahar, joining you from Bangladesh. Greetings and welcome to everyone. I am starting my blog today. I have come up with the recipe for making herbal ketchup with tomatoes and basil leaves for the learning challenge. First of all, I would like to thank our dear teacher @afzalqamar for selecting a very healthy topic. Fresh tomatoes are very beneficial for our health. Moreover, basil leaf juice is also very beneficial. We bring tomato ketchup from the market, along with various types of medicines.

If herbal ketchup is made with basil leaves like this at home, it will be very beneficial for us. Due to this, we will not have to eat outside food. So I have come up with this recipe to participate in the second week of the 27th episode of the learning challenge.

List all the ingredients used in making herbal basil tomato ketchup along with their correct quantities. (2 marks)

Ingredients


  • Fresh tomatoes 300 grams

  • Basil leaves -12

  • Cloves - 3

  • Cinnamon - 2 pieces

  • Red chili powder 2 teaspoons

  • Jaggery -100 grams

  • White vinegar -2 teaspoons

  • Soybean oil - 1 tbsp

  • White pepper powder - 1 tbsp

  • Salt to taste

Write the complete step-by-step method of making herbal basil tomato ketchup from washing to the final cooking.(4 marks)

  • In the first step, you can see that I cleaned and washed the tomatoes and cut them into small pieces with a knife.

  • I took it in a saucepan, added enough water to it, put it on the stove, and covered it with a lid to bring it to a boil.

  • When it is cooked, remove it from the stove and let it cool. Once it cools down, put it in a blender jar and blend it.

After blending, I put it in a net and baked it.

  • I put another pan on the stove. Heat 2 tablespoons of soybean oil in it and add cloves and cinnamon. Fry it in the oil and add the tomato ketchup.

  • I added the tomato ketchup. I also added the chopped jaggery.

  • After adding jaggery, I added salt to taste and also red chili powder. I added basil leaves, white pepper powder, and two tablespoons of white vinegar.

  • After adding all the ingredients, I mixed it well and boiled it. I boiled it for a while. Then I took it off the stove and cooked it again with a net. After cooking, the tomato basil leaf herbal ketchup was ready.

The recipe looked good while I was making it. I made the recipe and finally presented it. Just as tomatoes do various things to our bodies, basil leaves also do a lot of things to us. The benefits of basil leaves are immense. I use basil leaves for cold-related problems. Basil leaves are also useful in many other ways. The benefits of tomatoes are many.

We have created this recipe with two medicinal properties and ingredients, which will act as a natural remedy in our bodies. When I made the tomato ketchup recipe, I also prepared a presentation, which included my name tag and the date I made it.

  1. Tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C. Moreover, basil leaves contain antioxidants. Combining the two will greatly increase the body's immunity.

  2. Moreover, drinking basil leaf juice is very beneficial for colds. When we have a cold, we drink basil leaf tea. Therefore, on the one hand, the vitamin C in tomatoes and basil leaf juice will be very beneficial for colds and coughs.

  3. Basil leaves are very beneficial for heart health. ‌ Basil leaves help reduce cholesterol in the blood. ‌ Tomatoes help reduce cholesterol in the blood and reduce high blood pressure. From that point of view, it can be said that tomato and basil leaf ketchup benefits heart health.
