What should be the right portion of serving of appetizers? |
---|
An appetizer is a type of savory food that is usually served before the main course. Now the question is, what should be the correct serving size? I will try to answer this question below-
The correct portion size for an appetizer depends on whether the food is served before a full meal or as part of a party/snack spread. Because if the food is served before a full meal, there is one calculation and if it is served as the main course, then there is a different calculation. I will present it below-
✅ If served before a full meal:-
- 3-5 bite-sized pieces of food are enough per person.
- Approximately 60-90 grams (2-3 ounces) of food per person is enough.
- Because it is only served to whet the appetite, not to fill the person.
✅ If it is served as the main course
If it is served as the main course at a party such as a cocktail party, buffet, etc., then the plan is to serve fewer heavy appetizers (mini quiches, meat skewers) and lighter (veggie sticks, chips) items. For example,
- Each person can be served 2-3 small skewers,
- 2-3 samosas/spring rolls,
- ½ cup salad-like appetizers,
- Also, 30-40 grams of cheese with crackers can be served.
I invite three of my friends to join in this challenge.
