GOH shop is one of the places I visited recently during my time at the Saidpur Railway Workshop. It’s an important section within the workshop and is located close to the carriage shop. I heard that the coaches can be transferred from the GOH shop to the carriage shop, which shows a clear connection between the two. It was interesting to see how these different parts of the workshop are linked and work together.

The GOH shop is quite large, just like the other big shops inside the Saidpur Railway Workshop. Since long coaches are brought here for repair, the space needs to be huge. I heard that even the floors of the coaches can be repaired in this section. During my visit, I saw four long coaches standing inside the GOH shop.

But something I really missed was watching the actual repair work. I visited the shop during the second half of the office hours, just a few hours before closing time, maybe that’s why I couldn’t catch the workers in action. There are so many staff working in the Saidpur Railway Workshop. I feel like I could have understood their effort more deeply if I had seen them working with my own eyes watching how hard they work to repair the coaches that we travel in from one place to another.

We often enjoy the journey but don’t even think about the people behind the scenes, the railway mechanics, who work tirelessly to keep things running. The coaches parked inside the shop are kept here for repair. Once the repair work is done, they are transferred to other sections, sometimes even to other shops for painting.

These shops handle various tasks like repairing the train bodies, fixing the floors, and more. The goal of all this mechanical work is to bring old trains back to life with a fresh, new look. I believe many of the coaches we see on passenger trains and think are brand new, are actually old ones that have been beautifully restored through the hard work done here.

I saw two intercity coaches parked inside the workshop. These coaches are truly the backbone of our train service, as they are part of the passenger trains that connect major cities across the country. With fewer stoppages and higher speeds, they offer better service and comfort to travelers. Even these modern coaches come back to life through the skilled repair work done here, proving how essential this workshop is to keeping our rail system running strongly.

Just next to the GOH shop, there's a travel crane positioned beautifully between the GOH and Carriage shops. This crane plays a vital role in the coach repair process by helping transfer coaches from one shop to another. Since each shop specializes in different stages of the repair work, the crane makes it much easier and more efficient to move the coaches as needed.

All in all, exploring the GOH shop was a great adventure for me. I got to learn about the coaches being repaired here and how they are transferred from one shop to another as part of the overall restoration process. I highly recommend you to visit this shop and experience how train coaches are repaired here. It’s truly fascinating to see the process up close!
