SLC27-W1 | A One-Day Street Journalist: Festival-centric business

Ashsalamu Alaykum.
Hello friends, how are you all doing? Alhamdulillah, I’m also fine with all of your prayers. A few days ago, brother @max-pro organized a wonderful contest. Thanks to him for arranging such a nice contest. SLC27-W1 | A One-Day Street Journalist: Festival-centric business.

Today I’m going to take part in this contest. Hopefully, all of you will be with me.

What are the Festival-centric businesses in your area?

In our country, many festivals are celebrated, and during these times, different types of temporary shops appear. For example, during Eid, Muslim people buy one kind of product, while during Durga Puja, Hindu communities set up different stalls and sell unique items.

However, some businesses are common in all types of festivals and make good money like sweet shops, fast food stalls, and toy shops. These are not permanent; they last only for the duration of the festival.

You can see these kinds of stalls at almost every fair. But remember, they don’t last forever they are temporary, only open during festivals or fairs.

Have you ever bought anything from these stores? Show pictures + videos and show their prices.

Yes, of course! Many times I have bought different kinds of food from these stalls. One of my favorites is pickle. At any fair, you will always find at least one or two stalls selling pickles. They come in many varieties like tamarind pickle, olive pickle, berry pickle, chili pickle, wood apple pickle, etc.

I also bought some showpieces for decorating my home. Honestly, these kinds of decorative items make the home look more beautiful.

These stalls are always present in different fairs, and people can easily buy what they like.

Why are people more attracted to street stalls during festivals?

Street stalls are special during Eid or Puja because many of them only appear at that time. Since they are temporary, people are more curious to check them out. During festivals, these stalls offer unique things, and people can buy according to their needs.

Clay toys

For example, clay toys or handmade items are not always available in regular markets. That’s why they get more attention during fairs. Parents often buy these toys for their children, and kids really enjoy playing with them.

Festivals are also about having fun. People visit fairs not just to shop but also to taste different foods and enjoy rides, which are loved by both kids and adults.

Are these businesses contributing to preserving local culture?

Yes, absolutely! These businesses play a big role in preserving our local culture. Fairs are a part of our traditions. They keep our cultural practices alive and allow the younger generation to experience them.

But compared to the past, such fairs are slowly decreasing. Nowadays, people prefer branded showrooms or restaurants. Life has become busier, and many people don’t have the same time for traditional fairs. Still, children learn a lot from these cultural events, and they will remember them in the future.

In short, these businesses are not just about making money they also help keep our heritage alive. They remind us of the difference between past and present, and they highlight the unique cultural identity of our country.
