The incentive to implement new technologies to extract the oil sands is that oil sands are expensive to extract in the traditional way and are also highly polluting, especially considering the current pressures of climate change and global warming.

The side effect of global warming has also led to some developed countries cutting out or limiting the use of fuel and eradicating burning of fossil fuel. This is one of the reasons the use of electric cars has been very rampant in some other developed countries. The best thing to do in this case is to find a means of researching more on the combusting properties of fuel utilisation such that the effect of global warming is reduced and this is why technological innovation is extremely important in this aspect.
