If A Door Closes, Build Your Own Door
A lot of people sit and wait for opportunities to come looking for them, and others also sulk about missed opportunities. What they fail to understand is that they can actually motivate themselves to invent their own way even when a way seems not to be in existence. Just to let you know, life may not move in your planned direction, and may not even turn out as you have intended it to be. Sometimes, it may look like all the attempts you have put in have hit a dead-end. However, the major problem is not really that they tried and failed, but that they stopped trying. If you knock on a door and it is not opened for you, will you stop knocking or will you find your way in? The truth is that the way forward is not standing behind closed doors and sulking, but in your ability to build your own door.

When I talk about building your own door, I mean creating an opportunity for yourself even when it looks like an opportunity is not in existence. You have to understand that your destiny cannot be determined by a rejection, by a closed door, by circumstances, or by limitation, but your destiny is at the mercy of what you do in the presence of all these. If life will not give you a way in, then you can create your own way. If people will not give you opportunities, then create your own. You already have what you need to make yourself to count, so believe in yourself and make the move - you have life, you have time, imagine adding will power and self-belief to it.
I once read about Tyler Perry. A lot of people know about him as an actor, TV presenter, movie producer, comedian, etc. However, not many know about his background. He was born and grew up in deep poverty, and was reportedly abused as a kid. While growing up, he saved up money and produced a play, he invited people for it, but sadly, no one turned out for it. It almost discouraged him, but he decided not to quit in his struggles. He tried a lot of times and got rejected. Instead of waiting for the entertainment industry to give him the audience he wanted, he created his own audience with his style of play. He went on to create his own platform, then his own studio, and he became a household name. Now, he has built the door that he was once locked out of.
You do not have to be a celebrity or to have privileges first before you build your own door. If an employer does not want to hire you, then start up something on your own. A freelance, a side hustle, or a skill, is still better than being idle and hoping infinitely for a particular door to be opened to you. If no one wants to support your idea, then support yourself in the way you can. Maybe the reason they did not support you was because they do not understand it or they do not see it as doable. But when you start and prove that it is doable, you will be surprised how a lot of supports will be chasing after you. When they see you do the seemingly impossible, you will be surprised how lots of opportunities will be opened to you.

In other to build your own door, you need to have certain things in handy and we shall take a look at them: you need vision, so as to be able to see possibility even where others think it does not exist. You also need courage to be able to take risks and do what you have never done before or what others have not done. You need efforts and consistency. This is because nothing of value will come to you without your effort. You also need to believe in what you want to build, and in your ability to build, before others will see it. Always have in mind that even if a door closed to you, it does not mean a final stop. They can actually be a pointer or an indication to keep digging deeper and keep putting in efforts.
