Lovely to participate in this interesting contest. Words are spoken and words are also written to make it memorable. In the course of using words to tell the story, objects could be used to make it clear, understanding and fun.

In this contest of Picking a word to paint story, I would be writing on “Moonlight.

What Is The Moonlight?

IMG_20250711_103810_144.jpg

The moonlight is that non man-made satellite positioned above the earth having huge spherical and rocky structure in body that moves around the earth. It is the light that shines from the sun and is now reflected on the moon to shine on the earth. What this means is that, the Moon stores up light as reflection from the sun and and later, shines on Earth as light. The moon does not have light. It only releases the light that reflects on its surface from the Sun.

The Moon has a varying distance from the earth and so its movement is not static. The moon is said to have an average distance of 238,855 miles or is 384,400 kilometers away from the earth.

The Different Stages Of The Moon

According to scientific research and discoveries, the Moon appears in different stages, sizes or shapes and at different times. Following the discoveries, below are the phases at which the moon appears:

Daytime Moon:
At this phase, the moon may appear during day time as it appears in the sky. The day may sometimes become cloudy and as an effect, cover the moon.

The Full Moonlight:
The full moon is visibly seen in the night. It starts shining in the evening and goes down in the early morning hours.

The Third Quarter Moonlight

This is a moon's stage that occurs place as the reversed half part of the moon shines. When the moon appears on where you are, it may be seen or sited from the north or southern side of the hemisphere

Waning Gibbous Moonlight
The stage of this moon begins when the full moon must have gone or disappeared.

The Crescent Moonlight:
The crescent moon appears from July, August and September where it ends. It shines till the next new month. It indicates the last stage of the lunar month.

The New Moonlight:
In this stage of the moon, the moon goes in line with the sun, while the movement of the sun and the earth would be on the reversed side of the moon.

The First Quarter Moonlight:
This moonlight shows half part of it. Seeing the shining part of this has to do with the location of where you are and your local time. It could also be called half moon just as the rays of the sun is said to shine about 50% of the surface of the moon which would be seen from the earth.

These are some of the stages or phases at which the moon appears. There are still more other stages at which the moon appears.

Why The Moon Is Important To Us

IMG_20250711_103810_144.jpg

The moon is really an important factor as it affects the human life positively. I am yet to know if the moon has any disadvantage or negative effect on earth.

The moonlight is important to us in the following ways:

  • Useful For Scientific Research
Scientists make use of the moon to carry out researches about the moon. Their research may be on how the moon moves, its effects, or how it forms.

  • It Serves as a source of light:
The is such a a wonderful natural satellite that gives light in the night. The light that shines from the moon helps the movement of people through air, sea, or land from one location to the other. That is to say it aids in night transportation.

  • Earth's Normalization
After the earth undergo various climatic changes, the moon helps to stop the changes from having negative effects on earth and make it suitable for living.

  • **It is useful in performing culture or traditional practices.
