Freedom of the Press, Voice of the People-Your Thoughts Matter

in Hindwhale Community2 months ago

A peaceful Greetings to all respected participants here, the curators, the admin/moderators, and to the wonderful Hindwhale Community!
With my heart so full of joy and gratitude, I’m excited to take part in this great and remarkable contest that celebrates the power of press freedom and the voice of the people. A free press is obviously not just a tool, but it is the lifeblood of democracy, the mirror of pure truth, and a torch of hope in the society. I commend @alfazmalek so much for this thoughtful initiative.

  • Now let’s take the move to explore with clarity and passion.

What role does the press play in society? Why is it important for a healthy democracy?

The press are the main subjects whose role is in informing, educating, and guiding the entire society. It most significantly investigates things like corruption, promotes more of transparency, and gives a voice to the voiceless.

  • In a democracy, where we most rampantly defined it to be the government of the people for the people and by the people, the press only serves as the true reliable watchdog, holding the leaders much and more accountable and ensuring that justice is indeed taken. Without the press, definitely the citizens would only remain unaware, and leaders will go unchecked.

Is social media a part of the press? Should freedom of expression apply equally there?

Absolutely Yes, in our today’s advancing digital age, the social media has become a powerful extension of the press as days passes. It gives all individuals the ability to share any news, opinions, and expose the truths instantly. However, with "great power comes great responsibility". The Freedom of expression must apply, but with the rules that prevent harm, misinformation, and hate speech. A striking balance is essential between free expression and a responsible use.

What would a society without press freedom look like? Can you imagine such a future?

Any society without press freedom would certainly be like a body without eyes or the ears. Darkness would forever cover the truth. Fear would always silence the voices. Lies would only replace facts.

It would be a land where the injustice thrives, and only the powerful are often heard. Such a future is sincerely not just dangerous, it is so unacceptable. We must do well to always defend our right to know and to speak out.

If you were a journalist, what topic would you write about and why?

Sometimes, going through news and some journals, If I were a journalist, I would always love to write about rural education and the youth empowerment. These are indeed the silent pillars of the national development. Many rural youths have big dreams, talents, and ideas but they lack the support. I would willingly use my platform to shine a light on their stories more, press for government action, and as well inspire change from the ground up.

Conclusion

The "press" remains the heartbeat of real truth, the true defender of our rights, and the voice of the people. Let us do as much we can to protect it, promote it any day, and participate in it often. As we raise our precious pens, tablet and voices in a contests like this one, we can only remind the world that "freedom of the press is freedom for all".

I so much support the growth of this community, so i have set set 10% beneficiary to @hindwhale, the community account.
