BIG W, Canberra
I am sure it is not easy to describe hardware stores in Australia, but since the topic of the Steemit Challenge Season 27 Week 2 is hardware stores by @miftahulrizky, I will try with whatever is available in my neighborhood.
We have no repair system in this country barring vehicles and bikes, but most of the items in the country are replaced rather than repaired, including washing machines, refrigerators, and TVs.
Repair is too costly here but for small repairs, we have some DIY essential hand tools like a measurement tape, small hammer, screwdriver set, and pliers, along with a versatile cordless drill and a spirit level for accurate measurements.
ᴾˡᶦᵉʳˢ
We keep them all handy, although there is one thing very useful here that all items sold as replacement items have the same size no matter what company makes them. Even the floors and doors have the same opening and area.
We keep a couple of useful power tools that are needed, for example, a circular saw for cutting, a jigsaw for curves, an oscillating multi-tool, and clamps for holding materials.
There are bigger hardware stores like Bunnings for tradies and handymen, but for us common users who do it to fix things in a quick way, we go to Big W, which has different sections under DIY.
ᴹʸ ᶜᵒˡˡᵉᶜᵗᶦᵒⁿI will show you my tools collection here in my tools:
These tools are fundamental for most basic DIY tasks like:
Tool | Price A$ = 4 Steem |
---|---|
Tape measure measurement of lengths | 5/20 |
Pliers for gripping, bending, and cutting. | 12/48 |
Drill for drilling holes and driving screws, | 24/96 |
Saw is must for making straight cuts through wood although we seldom use it | 12/48 |
Clamps, essential for holding materials together securely while they are being worked on or glued. | 2/8 |
Hammer for driving or removing nails. | 5/20 |
Multi-bit screwdrivers to handle various types of screws. | 30/120 |
Other Useful Tools
Tool Bag to keep my tools
Adjustable Wrench for working with nuts and bolts.
Safety Glasses crucial for eye protection when using any tools.
Utility Knife, useful for various cutting tasks.
Today, as I entered the store the lady at the doors greeted me and welcome into the store. Upon entering the store, I walked around and saw another Asian woman standing there and she made some gestures and asked if she could help me select the item I wanted to buy but to be honest I did not want to buy anything so I gave her a smile and she smiled back.
I suggest if you need anything for basic repair like hose pipes and fixing leakage etc you can buy them at Big W and start with a basic set of hand tools, and maybe buy one or two versatile power tools. Sometimes I shop online and the Big W system immediately allows me to place anything in my cart.
The atmosphere as usual is at all BIG W stores is top class and as the "Fair Business" policy is in place which keeps customer first they do their best to keep their customers happy and if there is any problem even the instant replacement or return policy you can Phone and say "urgent" if it's a safety or high-priority concern and that will be attended immediately.

If you wish to fill an online form, you will find it on BIG W's contact page. Just fill in your complaint giving them details of your order and your contact info.
I walked around and looked at products which I keep under "Essential Hand Tools" and found them all from the best brands.
Big W offers quality tools known for durability and user-friendliness to make user experience easy.
Oh yes, the most sought-after job in this country is key making. Once you lose your keys, you can't have them made through any key maker, but you have to report and get them made from registered dealers, which keep the record of all keys, whether house keys or your car keys.
ᴷᵉʸ ᵐᵃᵏᶦⁿᵍ ᵖʳᵒᶜᵉˢˢ
I always use their barcode scanner which I feel is feature that scan the product and it shows the product details and price instantly. I can use this barcode scanner on any product that is available at BIG W.
As far doors and knobs one can at most go to the adjoining section, but even that is an expert's job here.

Summary
I must say BIG W has a good hardware store section with all essential categories for plumbing, gardening, kitchen and electrical items. It has hand and power tools, also offers cleaning products, and garden tools. You can find various adhesives, tapes, work gloves, protective footwear and glues for household repairs.

I admire BIG W's knowledgeable staff as a crucial component, which assists with product selection and repair advice. To summarise the post I must say that we get almost everything here that enables us DIY which is mostly limited in kitchen, bathroom and our gardens.
