Shelly Beach is located at the entrance of the Morua River, about 10 kilometers from Moruya Town, west of Toragi Point. If you look closely, the beach appears almost crescent-shaped. This beach is extremely popular with locals and visiting families from far of places as a picnic spot in NSW.

ˢʰᵉˡˡʸ ᴮᵉᵃᶜʰ ᴺˢᵂ

After parking our car here, we began our journey by following this walking path that leads us to Shelly Beach. The beach is surrounded by the Moruya Rock Wall and Bengelo Beach and is completely safe.

ᵀʰᵉ ᴿᵉᵈ ᵀᵉˢˡᵃ

Unlike other beaches, this beach is not patrolled because they consider it safe. The waves are not very high, but they do have small swells, which become more intense during high tides, especially in the evenings.

ᴾᵃⁿᵒʳᵃᵐᶦᶜ ᵛᶦᵉʷ

This beach is good for swimming, but it's safe to swim only close to the shore. The tidal shoals at the entrance of the Moorea River create a good wave for surfing, and you can enjoy some surfing.

I've seen about 60-70 beaches in this part of Australia, but Moruya Beach is truly a beautiful, long, wide beach.

Shelly Beach is spread over several kilometers, following Coronation Drive and Shelly Beach Road, past Toragi Point, to Moruya Heads Lookout for spectacular views of the main beach and coast. I didn't walk very far, opting for photo ops from a distance.

So, if you're coming here with family and friends. The calm and protected waters of this beach offer a great place to swim, surf, and barbecue around a picturesque picnic area with ocean views.

ᴬ ˡᵒⁿᵍ ˢʰᵒᵗ

This spot, also known as South Head, Moruya, is the entrance to the Moruya River and is truly a wonderful spot and a surfing hub for locals.

And if you've heard of two legged dolphins, they're often seen here in groups, surfing the waves just like humans. Although I haven't seen one here, I've heard that it's a wonderful sight to see them in a row, moving in and out with the ebb and flow of the waves.

ᴬ ⱽᶦᵈᵉᵒ ᵗᵒ ᵍᶦᵛᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ᵃⁿ ᶦᵈᵉᵃ

Now that spring has begun in Australia, a drive to Toragi Point is likely to offer a spectacular whale-watching experience, as there's a good chance of spotting humpback whales, southern right whales, and orca whales nearby.

ᵀʰᵉ ᵖᶦᶜⁿᶦᶜ ᵃʳᵉᵃ

If you head a little north, there's a breakwall that's a favorite spot for fishermen, as fish move in and out with the tides.

If you're interested, the nearby Loop Road also offers picnic facilities and is a great option for families. I think two days at Dolphin Beach Holiday Park isn't enough to fully enjoy Shelly Beach. Instead, renting a cottage here or bringing a motor home and kayak to Moruya Town is a good option.

You can boat to several locations around the beach, or take your bicycle and ride along the cycle path. I might do that next time, as I saw many families doing it.

ᶜᵃᵐᵖᶦⁿᵍ ᵇᶦᵏᶦⁿᵍ, ʸᵒᵘ ⁿᵃᵐᵉ ᶦᵗ

Behind the beach, you'll find a picturesque picnic area. Facilities include a car park, toilets, picnic benches, and barbecues.

Right there at Shelly Beach, the famous Moruya Heads Lookout, which offers spectacular coastal views, a great opportunity for whale watching, and a great picnic experience. If you're into bird watching, swimming, surfing, or fishing, this beach is for you.

ᵖᶦᶜⁿᶦᶜ ᵇᵉⁿᶜʰᵉˢ

Although my swimming session lasted only ten minutes, but spent most of my time walking around this picturesque picnic area.

This grassy area on one side of the beach, near the Surf Lifesaving Club, offers picnic tables, toilets, and a playground.

Overall Shelly Beach is ideal for beachside picnics with all facilities like grills and picnic benches.

Shelly beach is located close to Moruya town which offers a range of accommodations from, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast, home stay to ensuite cabins and villas.

ᴸᵒᵛᵉˡʸ ᴾᵃᶜᶦᶠᶦᶜ ⱽᶦᵉʷ

Shelly Beach situated close to Moruya town is well equipped with various on-site amenities, including swimming pools, playground, and sports facilities like tennis courts and golf course. You can have food of your choice in this area as restaurants serve food for different communities.

With absolute beach frontage, campers will enjoy a wonderful view. This beach is right on the doorstep and shops, playground and cycle path so I suggest select a site of your choice and enjoy the comfort of what nature has provided in abundance.

ᴸᵒᵛᵉˡʸ ⱽᶦˢᶦᵗᵒʳˢ

Shelly Beach has all amenities and just a short drive from Morua Town.
