My Brother’s marriage and other related arrangements
Greetings, dear friends, how are you all? I hope you all are fine and enjoying your day. I wish for you all good health, wealth and a prosperous time ahead. Today I am here to share with you yet another day of my life and I hope you all will get time to read and know about one more day of my life and also find it worthwhile to read and vote.
I am back after a long time. As I was quite busy making arrangements for my brother’s marriage, which was held on the 17th and 18th of this month, I couldn’t write my posts regularly on this platform and had to stop at one point due to the lack of time for other activities. Since I am the only one at my home who drives a car, I had to be available for every task related to the wedding.
Finally, Alhamdulillah, the marriage ceremony of my brother was held gracefully. It was a wonderful time, and all our relatives gathered in one place, which felt like campus days again—an opportunity to be together. Such events truly strengthen bonds. In our valley, we celebrate such occasions by inviting relatives some days before the actual ceremony, so we can spend some quality time together.
In the valley, the actual main ceremony starts a day before bringing the bride home and is known as Mehndi Raat, which is the night before the wedding. During this event, mehndi is applied to the little finger of the groom, and all the relatives gather to celebrate and create memories of the occasion. It’s quite a fantastic event as it offers an opportunity to stay together, sing folk songs, and for some, a chance to have long chats.
I was also responsible for organizing the Sheesh, which was quite an exhausting task, as different food items needed to be prepared and distributed among the guests. Some important Kashmiri beverages, like kehwa, also needed to be served. It’s actually the moment when the groom—or even the bride—is presented before the public for the first time in such traditional attire and style.
My brother had invited his friends for the event, and so did I, as well as my little brother. It’s a different feeling altogether when you see all your loved ones in and around your place, and this is one of the greatest factors that makes these events quite memorable as well as special. The actual marriage takes place the next day.
For me, the marriage wasn’t just a marriage; it was a huge chunk of responsibilities. Fortunately, I was satisfied with the way I handled things and fulfilled my duties. The next day, when we were all set to head towards the bride’s home, it started blowing wind in the evening when we were heading towards the brides home. It was quite a horrific scene when all the materials were on the verge of flowing and flying all across an into the open.
This time, I will be sharing just this much news with you all, and tomorrow I will share some more details of the event.
Till then, thank you.
It was all about my day.Thank you for going through my post. Have a great time ahead.
