After the hustle and bustle of every day, sometimes one wants to go out in the evening and eat something delicious, spend some time with family and smell the fragrance of some new places. Something similar happened with us yesterday evening when we went to a famous restaurant named Asal Amdavadi Tava Fry and Sea Foods.

Just like its name, this place gives the feel of “real Ahmedabad”. This roadside restaurant was full of light and activity from outside. As soon as we reached, we were captivated by the aroma of fish and spices roasting on the pan coming from outside.

The exterior ambiance of the restaurant was quite attractive. Seeing the board glowing in red lights, comfortable chairs, and crowd of people, it was clear how popular this place was. Some people were sitting outside and eating, some were waiting for their order.

As soon as you stepped inside the clean tables decorations on the walls and the airy atmosphere gave a relaxing feeling. The air-conditioning was fine and there was light music was playing in the restaurant which added to the enjoyment of the meal.

We went with family so our aim was to have a relaxing evening and enjoy some delicious dishes. Looking at the menu my mouth watered-there were all kinds of dishes available from seafood to pure vegetarian.

The waiter welcomed us with a smile and made suggestions very politely. We started with Chicken Tava Fry and Fish Fry. Within no time, the hot dishes were in front of us – the aroma of the pan, the fresh spices and the sight of the properly cooked dish further increased our appetite.

The Chicken Tava Fry was perfect and slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The taste of the spices was balanced neither too spicy nor bland. Talking about Fish Fry it was as if it was making one feel the freshness of the sea. Light fries served with lemon and onion was absolutely delicious.

We also had Chapati roti and Masala chiken Rice which went really well with the curry.
Everyone in the family liked every dish especially the children were most pleased by the pairing of Fish Fry and Cold Drink.

Cleanliness and ambience

The cleanliness of the restaurant was really commendable. The staff used to clean the table immediately after every dish was finished. The wash basin area was also clean, which is rarely seen in many restaurants in India.

The whole atmosphere was very positive-not much crowd, not much noise. There was just a gentle movement and a delicious aroma spread all around.

Service and Staff Behavior

I liked the behavior of the staff very much. Our waiter smiled and chatted every time telling us which dishes were more popular and which were the fresh. It took a while for the food to arrive but the taste was worth every moment of the wait.

The food prices here are very reasonable. The quantities are also generous – one plate is enough for two people.

After the meal, we tried the kulfi there, which tasted like home-made – sweet and fresh.
There was adequate parking outside the restaurant and there was outdoor seating as well. Some people were enjoying their food there while talking with their families.

Every picture is a reminder of a moment when we enjoyed both the taste and the company.

Overall Experience

If I were to rate this place it would definitely be 9.5/10.
The taste + service + cleanliness and ambiance and everything was absolutely excellent.

This place is especially perfect for those who love Gujarati-style seafood and North Indian tava dishes.
