When Age Speaks Softly

in Steem For Pakistanlast month

Greetings,

No one can prevent the element of age Once it is over… it is over forever. Time never allows anybody. It flows water passing through fingers- silent, gentle but irresistible!!!

Today was such of a day when I really sensed what age meant. My grandfather had a slight illness and we had to refer to medical assistance with hope. It was when I saw him lying on the bed, feeble, but smiling sweetly--it struck me tremendously. That is the effect of age.

Seriously, it consumes strength, speed, and energy, gradually, however, it also leaves wisdom and beautiful memories.

We usually ponder that we lose health as we grow older when we should realize that experience is gained along with age. My grandfather has experienced things that we have not even just imagined!!!! He had experienced difficult times, simplistic times, and superior times and now he is putting those experiences into his eyes!!!

It reminded me of a quote by Maya Angelou:
"Most people don’t grow up. Most people age."

True, right? Getting older must be more than just figures!!! It ought to be a learning and changing and getting better. Age is not only wrinkles, but the history which is on the skin.

Today as I sat down beside my grandfather, it made me realize this immense affection and admiration. I was made to understand that age is accompanied by pain and beauty. The body may become weak, but the heart is good, it is strong, it is full of love to children, grandchildren, family!!!

Sometimes we don’t value old people in our lives until we see them sick or struggling. That’s wrong. They deserve love, time, and care every day—not just on difficult days. They are like living books, full of lessons!!!

I hope my grandfather feels better soon!!! I promised myself to sit with him more, listen to his old funny stories, and learn from his life!!! Because one day—when we get older too—we’ll wish someone did the same for us!!!

Age teaches us one important thing—time is precious, don’t waste it. Love your family. Respect your elders. And be kind—always!!!

Regards
