King Tej Pratap Singh ruled a kingdom. There was prosperity all around in his kingdom. He always worked for the welfare of the people and the people in his kingdom were also happy but he needed a smart courtier for his court, for which he was very worried. He tried to find a smart courtier for his kingdom in many kingdoms but he proved unsuccessful. After a lot of searching and thinking, he thought why not find a smart person from his own kingdom and make him a courtier in his court.

For this, he made a plan and as per the plan, he brought an old elephant to his kingdom and tied it and announced in his kingdom that all the city dwellers have to serve this elephant and any person from the city dwellers will come to our court every day and will definitely tell me about the condition of this elephant and whoever says that the elephant is dead will be given a severe punishment, the king announced this in the entire area.

Now all the people of the kingdom were very scared that what kind of order the king had given but the king's words could not be ignored so all the people of the city started serving that elephant and someone from the city used to go to the king's court everyday and used to tell the king about the elephant's well-being. People of the whole area were serving the elephant well, someone used to go to the king's court everyday and tell the king about the elephant's well-being but this could not continue for long,

one day the elephant died and then the people of the area got scared that who will tell the king that the elephant is dead because the king had announced that no one will come to my court everyday and will tell me about the elephant's well-being, no resident of the area was able to muster courage to go in front of the king. All the people of the kingdom were scared that who will tell the king now, one of those young men came forward and said that I will go to the king's court and tell him about the elephant's well-being.

All the people forbade him to go but he did not listen and reached the king's court and after reaching the court he bowed to the king and told about the elephant that Maharaj, today the elephant is neither eating nor drinking anything, neither is he moving nor playing and everything else is absolutely fine, on hearing this the king asked, so has the elephant died then the young man said I am not saying so Maharaj,

you are saying so, I did not even mention this because that young man very cleverly presented the condition of the elephant in front of the king, the king was also very happy with his cleverness and he included that young man in the courtiers of his kingdom and praised him a lot.
