The Diary Game: My Day and National Identification Number Suspension/08/09/2025

Greetings to you all my fellow steemians.

Every day comes with its peculiar events and experiences; as such, mine wasn't different. Some unplanned activities left me with no option but to fix myself. I started the day with my family's devotion; thereafter, I studied my Bible from Jeremiah 2 9:11. This text boosted my day with unfailing hope, knowing that God is with those who believe in him.

At about 8am, I started filling out the form from the link I received from where I enrolled for digital literacy. When I got the field that needed my National Identification Number (NIN), it was rejected. I tried again and was i told to visit the NIMC office to rectify it.

At exactly 10:05am, I quickly rushed to the Federal Secretariat at Abak Road, Uyo. That was my first time going to this busy environment. I made enquiries, and I was directed to the office. The man who attended to me told me that my NIN is placed on suspension and further directed me to another table.

What I learned from the second person who attended to me is that a suspended NIN may be as a result of trying to use it with what seems to be fraudulent or someone trying to use my NIN without my consent. Once there's suspicion or phishy activity with it, it could be suspended.

This means that everything I have used the suspended NIN for (unknown to me) is invalid. Some areas of which I have been expecting payments from for a very long time and had not been forthcoming could be due to this problem.

I was there until afternoon trying to sort myself. I paid a fee for the suspension to be lifted and my NIN reactivated; this was not in my budget for the week (so painful). The line was long, and I must be patient enough until I am called. Even when people were quarreling with the officers for wasting their time, I understood that I must wait and get it done. I spent about 2 hrs 43 mins. When it was my turn, I performed the biometrics, and I was captured. After the whole process, they told me to come back on Friday with a code written on a piece of paper for me. My time in the Secretariat was full of endurance for to get my NIN reactivated.

After the afternoon stress, I was thinking Nigeria will win against South Africa to rejuvenate the hope of qualifying in the 2026 world, but my frustration started when the power supply failed. Electricity was restored after the kickoff. We were shouting, "Nigeria must win!" All of a sudden, the captain of the Super Eagles, William Ekong, converted an own goal. At this point, the hope of participating in the World Cup is very slim; even the equalizer of Calvin Bassey wasn't enough. It was a must-win, not to settle for shared points. Well, that's football, but how long will Nigeria continue to calculate ways we gain group stage qualification? We are on the verge of missing another World Cup, the giant of Africa.

At about 7pm, my dinner was set: plantain with vegetable sauce, one of my favorites. I cannot get angry and forget to eat. I ate and drank enough water to force myself to sleep.

CONCLUSION
Every day is a good day depending on how you handle every moment. For me today was frustrating; how can my NIN be placed on suspension without notice from NIMC, with payments that I have missed due to this suspension making it more painful? But when I remembered the portion of the Bible I read in the morning, I kept trusting God that all things work together for good for those who are in Christ Jesus (for us Christians, this is a core hope when situations turn against our expectations).
