"When the River Rises: Homes, Fields and Lives Underwater"
بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
السلام علیکم
Hey my all respected moderators and Steem For Pakistan community friends.
Alhamdulillah, I am completely fine by the grace of Allah and I hope that you are all fine too. On our side friends sometimes the weather is good. Sometimes it's a bit stormy. So guys, I'm here to share some of the situations in my area with you. As everyone knows I live near the Sutlej River. My village is very close to the Sutlej River just six to seven kilometers away. So, there has been a lot of water here. A lot of dams have broken due to which many villages around the Sutlej River have been affected and the conditions of the people are very bad. So I visited it in the evening and I went to see all this. So I thought I would share this situation with all of you. |

- When I left my house. I headed towards another village. So the elders who were going with me from the family told me that this was the canal that had been closed for many years. But due to the high flow of water in the river. The water that was in the river was also released into this canal. I left home around three or four o'clock. So the sun was still shining brightly on my head. I tried to capture some views along the way. In which there was a scorching sun and the river along which we were traveling
- As we were leaving, I saw a tube well on the way. Which we also call a water pump. We stopped here for a while and washed our faces and hands. It was my first time in such areas because I had never seen such old houses. Even today, there are houses here where people live by building their homes solely from mud. There were mud houses everywhere, people lived in these houses with great joy. Almost every house here had a lot of livestock.
- Looking at them we had no idea how we ended up in a flooded area. When we looked at this area. All we could see was water for a long distance. All the houses here were almost submerged. There were many crops that had been destroyed. And the road that existed here was also broken in many places. And therefore it was not allowed to move forward. There were people there who were trying to reconnect the broken dam and stop the water from flowing further. So that more damage would not be done. The area I passed through and shared my pick-up with the people has been ordered to evacuate because there is a risk of the water rising further. And there were many people on the way who were evacuating their homes and moving. I was feeling very sad seeing all this.
- There are many villages where there has been a lot of destruction due to the slabs, but there is no permission to go to these areas. After leaving this village, I started heading towards the Sutlej River. This is an entire Rangers area, so there are some beautiful pictures on the walls, which show the entire parade process and pictures of our Rangers, etc. It is very pleasing to see how our soldiers on the border protect us.
- Now we are very close to the Sutlej River. Before this, this canal used to flow. All the canals in our area had dried up before the flood, but since there has been a lot of water, there is a lot of water in each canal.
- About two to three minutes after crossing the canal, we reached the bridge at our head. At that time, the pictures I shared with you were passing over the bridge over the Sutlej Pass. The river was completely full of water. There was only water everywhere. As far as the eye could see, only water was visible. The Sutlej River is the chief of our rivers because six rivers flow into it and the seventh is itself, so this river is deeper and bigger than we think.
- The bridge over the Sutlej River that I was crossing at that time has at least 22 gates. And there was a large distance between each door. When I was crossing it, there was such a noise of water below that my heart was trembling and fear was rising upon hearing its sound. The flow of water was very high and upon hearing its sound, many circles were forming in the water and the water was moving very fast from where the doors were opened.
So friends, in every area I visited today, as far as I could see, there was only water. The speed of the water in the Sutlej River is quite high. So apart from the villages where the water has risen. All the other villages including our village, have been informed of the risk of flooding and have been asked to adopt precautionary measures. Our situation is still better than these countries. I thank Allah those countries which have been submerged in stormy rains in the slopes and where millions of people have died and millions of people have been displaced.
With this beautiful evening view, I say Allah Hafiz to you all.
Here is my post for today, which I have shared with all my friends. See you in the next post.
I pray that you all Attain your dreams and find peace, and do not forget me in your prayers. 🥰
Thank you so much friends for being with me. |
