One Picture One Story Week #97
I am @shadow04 from #bangladesh🇧🇩. Today I have appeared in the Steem For Pakistan community to participate in the Picture One Story Week #97 competition organized by @suboohi mam.
There is a popular proverb in Bengali, "Mache Bhate Bengali". This is not just a sentence of a few letters, but a real truth that is deeply intertwined with the life and tradition of the Bengali nation. By the infinite mercy of Almighty Allah, we have 700+ small and big rivers in Bangladesh, which are spread like veins throughout the country. Because of such a large number of rivers, our beloved motherland Bangladesh is called "River Mother Country".
Most of the people in our country live in villages. And among these people living in villages, a large number of people are directly involved in fishing to run their lives. They are called "Jele". These fishermen catch fish from the rivers and canals and sell them to meet the needs of their families.
A small river called Jagannathpur River flows past our village. Although it would be wrong to call it a river, its common name is "Kol" which means a small water body. This river is a small river created from a tributary of the Padma River. During the rainy season, this river fills up with water due to the influence of the Padma River, and along with the water, this river is also filled with a huge amount of fish. When there is water in the river, fishermen catch fish with nets and when the water starts to dry up, they fence different parts of the river with nets according to their ability. Fish get trapped in these fences made of nets and the fish stay in specific areas surrounded by nets. At these places, fishermen put their fishing traps, nets in the water. Fish swim away and get caught in these traps and then the fishermen collect them and sell them in the market.
Here you can see a fisherman collecting fish from his fishing nets in the river that flows past our area. This fisherman came in a boat with his son, his little son was standing in the boat and he went down into the water to collect fish from the nets and put them in a pot on the boat. The nets that you can see here with the fence surrounded by nets are called "doors". These round nets are round in shape, surrounded by nets all around and two paths are made with nets along one side, so they are called "doors".
When the afternoon sun tilted completely in the western sky and just before setting, its golden light spread all around and made the sky golden, I really felt a special peace in my heart to enjoy the sight of the fishermen collecting fish in the river water. The setting sun of the afternoon, its golden light, the river water and the fishermen collecting fish all together created a wonderful time and scene there.
