My taste for: Salads

hello this is me @isha-rehman i hope you all are doing great. Today I am thrill to participate in the ninth edition of the contest My Taste For: hosted by the wonderful @dasudi and organized by the Steemit Iron Chef team. This time we are diving into one of the healthiest and most refreshing part of any meal Salads.

How often do I eat salad?

Honestly speaking salads are a regular part of my meals. I eat them almost daily especially during lunch and dinner. Whether it a quick mix of cucumber and onion or something fancier with chickpea and lemon a salad is a must have for me. It add balance to my meals and keep me feeling light yet satisfy.

Do I like raw or cooked salads?

Without a doubt I prefer raw salads! There something incredibly satisfying about the crunch of fresh vegetable. The rawnes preserve all the nutrient flavor and texture. In winter though I sometimes warm things up by adding slightly steamed vegetables but overall I’m a big fan of crisp fresh raw salads.

My Favorite Salad Dressing

My go to dressing is simple and natural:

Fresh squeeze lemon juice
A pinched of salt
A dash of black papper

Sometime I add a drizzle of olive oil if I want a richer flavor. This dressing is not only refresh and healthy but it also enhance the natural taste of the vegetable without overpowering them.

Ingredients I Dont Like in Salad:

I prefer to keep my salad light and fresh so I avoid creamy or mayonnaise base dressing. They feel too heavy and take away from the freshnes of the vegetable. I am also not a fan of boil potatoe in my salad. They make it feel more like a mash than a crisp vibrant bowl!

Do I eat salad as a main or side dish?

It was depend on the ingredient. When I make a protein riched salad with chickpea I often enjoyed it as a main meal especially during hot summer day when I dont want anything too heavy. For simpler lighter salad I served them as a side dish with rice roti or grill chicken.

My Favorite Salad Recipe

Let me share with you one of my all-time favorite recipes a Chickpea Veggie Salad that’s nutritious flavorful and super easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

1 cup boiled chickpeas
1 tomato
1 onion
1 cucumber
A handful of fresh coriender leaves
Juice of half a lemon
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Preparation:

Take a large mixing bowl and add the boiled chickpeas.
Toss in the chop tomato onion and cucumber.
Add finely chop coriander leave for a burst of freshnes.
Sprinkle salt and black papper to your liking.
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the mixture.
Mix everything thoroughly and served immediately.

This salad is not only healthy and colorful but also pack with protein fiber and vitamin. Its ideal for lunchboxe quick dinners or even light snacking between meal.I truly enjoyed writing this post and sharing my love for salads with you all.
