My Own Recipe of Fisherman Soup (Efere Ndek Iyak)

Welcome to my blog , come spend a little of your time in my kitchen as you read through the procedure of how i achieved a very tasty fish and melon soup using a very unique way, this soup is traditionally called the fisherman soup because the star ingredients is mainly fresh fish, some people may decide to add other sea food to enrich the soup but on my todays food post I will share how fisherman soup can be prepared with just few ingredients.
Ingredients
• fresh fish
• oziza leaf
• onions
• Seasoning cubes
• melon
• crayfish
• palm oil
• pepper
I started by washing the fish with hot water then rein's it with cold water position them in the pot in a way all the part of the fish will come in contact with the heat at once.
Blended my pepper and prepared all the seasoning i used in steaming the fish the pour it into the pot add a very little amount of water and cook.
After cooking the fish on a medium heat for 30 minutes i turned it into another bowl then rein's the pot heated it to dry poured in some palm oil into the hot pot.
I added onions fried for few seconds then added the tomatoes and frid to 5 minutes.
Poured in my melon and stirred freid for 2 minutes before pouring in the fish stock bit by bit and keep stirring to avoid getting burnt (note my crayfish was blended together with the melon crayfish can be added during stirred fried or after adding stock)
Now I gently return the fish into the soup then used a spatula to turn gently after a little while i poured the sliced oziza stirred brought the pot down from the heat and my soup was ready.
Fisher man soup ais a native delicacy mainly prepared in the eastern Nigeria mostly among the crossriverian and the akwa ibomite, it has many other ways in preparing it and also other sea ingredients like clams, shrimps and snails can be added but the star ingredients remain fresh fish or sometimes dried fish which are mainly catfish, tilapia and barracuda and other fish of ones choice.
