International Chef's Day
In the culinary world where the flavour, sweetness, aroma, garnishing and tasty meals arouse hunger, we've got just one person who makes the difference, and who makes the magic, "THE CHEF!" They are indeed worth celebrating...
👨🏽🍳 Who are the chefs in your family, and what culinary specialties make them stand out as the family chef? |
|---|
In my family, the real chef is my mother, I learnt the basis from her. She has this natural gift for cooking that turns ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary. Her jollof rice is the star of christmas, rich in color, seasoned appropriately, and filled with that smoky aroma of "party jollof" that always draws everyone to the kitchen. I remember one Sunday when she was preparing jollof rice for the family gathering. The whole house was filled with the sweet smell of fried tomatoes and pepper. Even before she finished cooking, my siblings and I were already sneaking into the kitchen to have a taste from the pot. She just smiled and asked, “Do you people want to eat the pot? 😂”
Aside from jollof rice, her soups are heavenly, OMG! egusi, ogbono, vegetable, and okra, each cooked with love and care. My father also enjoys cooking occasionally, especially pepper soup. His pepper soup is the best on cold evenings, do you want to know how he does it, visit my home and you will learn.
It warms the heart and fills the house with comfort. Sometimes we all cook together, laughing and teasing one another, but everyone knows that my mother’s meals have a special touch. Cooking for her is more than a task, it’s her way of bringing the family closer, and every dish she makes carries love in every bite.
👨🏽🍳 Being a chef is a profession that is becoming increasingly popular. Is it worthwhile being a chef in your country? |
|---|
Being a chef is becoming a very popular career in my country, and honestly, I think it is worthwhile, especially for people who truly love cooking. Many restaurants, hotels, and catering businesses are opening up, and they all need good chefs. People now pay more attention to food quality and presentation, so chefs are getting more recognition than before.
In Nigeria, for example, a skilled chef can work in big hotels, run a private catering business, or even become a personal chef for families and events. Some chefs also make money by teaching cooking online or sharing recipes on social media. It’s a job that allows creativity and passion to shine through every dish.
However, it’s not always easy. Being a chef takes hard work, long hours, and patience. You spend a lot of time on your feet, especially during busy events or festive seasons. Also, some people start small and earn little at first before their skills get noticed.
But once you build a good reputation, cooking can open many doors. It’s a career that gives joy, creates opportunities, and allows you to share a part of your culture with others. So yes, being a chef is definitely worthwhile if you have passion and determination.
👨🏽🍳 Which chefs on the platform best suit your lifestyle and tastes? |
|---|
Well on this platform, there are many chefs who are yet to show their talent but judging from the visible ones, I would say that I admire @nahela who has being my inspiration. I have over time followed her updates without her notice and participated in all her SLC challenge because she's got what interest me.
I love just her model of preparations, cooking and serving. There were so many things I didn't know about but today, I know them and practice them too. All her food taste might not necessarily be my taste but I am sure that 75% of what she cooks and presents attracts me which I believe are my taste
Another chef is @eliany who gives us the best Nigerian combos. I love all her recipes and I have learned some special dishes from her. She has a very special way of making her dishes outstanding and glamorous. I became so glued to her blog just to learn her simple ways of cooking.
Of course, you know Nigerians have got so many traditional dishes and this chef kills it with her gesture. I loved her native soup more and I tell you, she is the best of all. If you ever visit Akwaibom state in Nigeria, just ask me of her spot and I will tell you. She's good at preparing sharp dishes.
👨🏽🍳 Words to congratulate the chefs on their day. |
