Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin

Kwara State Stadium is one of the most common stadiums in my state, mainly used for football matches. It was established in 1977 by the military governor known as George Innih.

This stadium has an 18,000 capacity, which accommodates a large number of fans so that they can enjoy themselves with their loved ones. This beautiful stadium is home to Kwara United Football Club (FC), which is run by the state government.

This particular club plays in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), where they are doing well in the league. In August 2024, the state government fully renovated most of the facilities in order to meet the standard. The management of the stadium does their best in terms of cleanliness, and whenever there are matches, they provide adequate security to protect everyone, including the footballers on the field.

The seating arrangement is very comfortable for everyone, allowing them to watch football matches that come from other states. Meanwhile, the playground is green and beautiful. The football pitch is so smooth that it is very easy for the players to dribble and play on the field at their convenience.

Their facilities are among the biggest in the country, where they normally hold friendly matches with the national team (Super Eagles). They have a handball field, table tennis, and a swimming pool for those who like to swim. Shops can also be found within the stadium premises where they normally sell sports equipment only.

I visited this stadium to watch a football match between Kwara United and Kun Khalifat Football Club (FC). Fortunately for us, as supporters of my state team, we won 2-0. We scored the first goal in the first half and the remaining goal in the second half.

We won the match in our home state; in fact, many fans came out in large numbers to watch the match, to the extent that there was no more space for them to sit down. The environment is conducive for everyone, where players can breathe the fresh air and enjoy beautiful moments of their lives.

This stadium is one of the oldest because it's the most visited place by the residents, even during normal days, after workers close from their place of work to have fun in the process.

Car parks are also available for those who have their own cars because most of these people come from a far distance to watch their favorite football club. Their players are talented, and they won the Presidential Cup this year.

On weekends, some people also visit this place to exercise their bodies in order to strengthen their muscles as well as to stay fit all the time. Anytime there's a match, I love to visit this beautiful place for relaxation, as well as to forget any negative thoughts.
