I can remember back then during my nursery school time. School was over as usual around 2pm and i was walking back home, truly I was really tired and carrying my heavy bag and lunch box. The sun was really so hot that I got some headache, and I just wanted to reach home as soon as I could. Then I saw one of my classmate that didn't come to school that day walking behind me. He came closer and said, “Let me help you carry your bag small.” I didn’t ask. He just offered to help since we are heading to the same direction.That simple act stayed with me till now.

Since then, we started talking more in class. We shared our notes, we played together during break time. We helped each other with assignments. We didn’t become friends because we planned it. It just happened—through kindness, care, and small actions and we become best friend even till now.That’s how friendship starts. Not with big grammars, but with simple and honest actions and connection.

🤝 Who Is My Friend and Why Did I Choose Them?

However without too many words. I didn’t choose them because they are rich or popular. I chose them because they are real. They don’t pretend. They don’t gossip. They don’t disappear when life gets tough. And one of my friends i chose here is Victor.

I chose him because he always do well to show up. When I’m quiet , unhappy or moody he will ask if I’m okay and he will surely find his way to make me happy. When I’m happy, he will celebrate with me. When I’m confused, he will help me sort things out.

Infact ,I chose him because he makes me feel safe and comfortable. I can just be myself around him. No forming. No pressure. Just real me and him having peace of mind.

😔 How Do you Feel When you Don’t Hear From your Friend?

Honestly,no doubt I always feel somehow. Like something is missing in my life.Like When I don’t hear from my friend, I will start to wonder—are they okay? Or Did I do something or anything wrong? Did I make him or her angry? Are they going through something?

It’s not just about missing their voice. It’s about missing that connection we had. And missing that person who checks on me and also that person who makes me laugh all the time even when I don’t feel like smiling or laughing.

Sometimes, I will just wait. On some cases I'll just send them a message. However I do include them in my prayers. Having in my mind that true friendship is not only about when both of us is talking and chatting every day—it’s also about caring about each other even in silence and far distance.

🔍 What Qualities Do You Look For Before Calling Someone Your Friend?

However,I always look at how they behave and —not just with me, but with others too in public places.So now,here are the main things I watch out for:

Being Loyal: Do they always stand by me when things are rough and not to runa away ?
Being Honest: Can this person tells me the truth, even when it’s not easy and hard for them to say?
Kindness: Do they treat people well, even those they don’t need?
Consistency: Are they the same person in public and private or
the are two sided?
Support: Do they help me grow, or do they pull me down and always depending on me?

Surely I don’t need a perfect person before choosing him or her as a friend. But I need someone who is just real. Someone who values friendship. Someone who doesn’t use me and dump me. And finally someone who add a lot of peace and happiness to my life.
