The Diary Game || 12-10-2025 || A Beautiful Sunday

Bless this day oh Lord.
Today was one of those Sundays that felt like a gentle blessing from start to finish. The kind of day that reminds you that life, in all its simple moments, is truly beautiful. It began early in the morning, with the air fresh and calm, carrying a stillness that only Sunday mornings seem to know.

My family and I got ready for church. My pastor looked dignified as always, sharing smiles and gentle greetings with everyone. My mother was radiant in her black and white dress — she always has a graceful way of dressing for worship, never overdone, but always elegant. My kid brother, full of energy as usual, had surprisingly chosen to wear a black and white outfit too. It matched with the theme of the day, and together, they looked like they were part of a well-prepared choir, though it was just a coincidence.

As we walked into church, I noticed that many people had also come out in their Sunday best. The congregation was full — not a single row was empty. There’s a certain comfort in seeing familiar faces all gathered in one spirit, singing, clapping, and giving thanks. The music was alive, the message from the pastor was deep and encouraging, and there was a strong sense of unity in the room. It reminded me why Sundays are so special — a time to reconnect not just with faith, but with community.

After church, we returned home, and my sister took over the kitchen. She decided to prepare jollof rice, and not just any kind — the one made with fresh tomatoes. The aroma filled the entire house, and even before I tasted it, I knew it would be delicious. There’s something about home-cooked meals on Sundays that warms the heart, especially when it’s jollof. The rice came out perfectly — the grains not too soft, not too hard, and every bite was filled with rich flavor. We ate together as a family, sharing stories, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. These are the kind of memories that stay with you for a long time.

Later in the afternoon, I decided to head out to Men Load — the bus terminal — just to see what was going on. The place was alive with activity, as always. I saw the new Mimi buses lined up — they had just started operating in the area, and they looked sleek and modern. Out of curiosity, I decided to enter one of them. From the outside, it looked like just another minibus, but once I stepped in, I was genuinely impressed.

The seats were clean and comfortable, the interior well-ventilated, and the driver even greeted passengers with a smile. It wasn’t just a ride — it was an experience. For a moment, I forgot I was in a regular town bus. Everything about it felt new, efficient, and surprisingly peaceful. It’s not every day you can say public transport makes you feel that way.

As the day began to wind down, I realized just how full and fulfilling it had been. From the spiritual nourishment at church, the delicious jollof rice, to the unexpected joy of riding the Mimi bus — everything had its place. I had spent time with my family, my kid brother, been inspired, fed well, and even discovered something new in my community.

It’s not always the big things that make a day beautiful. Sometimes, it’s the harmony of many little things coming together — love, laughter, worship, good food, and simple adventures. Today reminded me to be grateful for those moments. It’s been a long day, yes, but also a good one.
