The pharmacy I will write about today is called Adrita Medicine Store or (ঔষধ ঘর). It is located in Narayanganj and is one of the most trusted pharmacies in the area. I have personally visited this pharmacy, and here I will share my review, details, and personal experience.
Location and Background
The pharmacy I will write about today is located in a very remote area and even the google location does not have a picture of it but this medicine store is quite popular locally and everyone comes here when they need instant medicine. I think this is the most important of all the locations I have pinned on Steam Atlas so far because there is not much information about it online. Although there are many other medicine stores in Bangladesh with the name of the store, this is not a chain medicine store but an independent local pharmacy. Since no information about it is available online, I do not know exactly how many years this pharmacy has been serving the community, but I have heard from a local that this pharmacy has been established for more than five year. A Doctor name Jannatun Ferdous is the owner of this pharmacy. She is a BUMS. BUMS stand for Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery from Hamdard University.
Size and Layout
As I mentioned earlier, this pharmacy is located in a remote area of Bangladesh where the presence of people is very less and it has been established with the aim of serving the poor villagers. The size of this shop is quite small and the touch of modernity is hardly seen in this pharmacy. In this small pharmacy, medicines, supplements, baby care are neatly arranged in each section. There is no skin care and cosmetic products here. There is a plastic chair for the shopkeeper or pharmacist and a wooden bench has been kept on one side of the shop for the customers where the customers/patients sit.

At the pharmacy, you will find prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines – such as common painkillers, cough syrups, vitamins, energy boosters, saline. There are also health supplements, herbal medicine, diabetes and blood pressure control products, and baby products, brushes, pastes, soaps, sanitary products, etc.
Pricing and Discounts
The prices of the pharmacy are kept within the purchasing power of the common people. The prices of many medicines are fixed by the government, so there is no problem of high prices here. The prices are almost the same as other pharmacies or in some cases lower. So it is a rural independent pharmacy, so the prices are neither kept high nor low. Sometimes discounts are given to some special customers, which is entirely due to their poverty. Also, there is a facility for regular customers to pay later. In some cases, discounts are available if you buy wholesale or more together.

The main feature here is the sale of trusted and safe medicines. All medicines are brought from reputable brands. Expired medicines are not sold, regular stock management is done. Strict awareness is maintained in the supply and storage of medicines.
Customer Service
The pharmacist here is knowledgeable and sincere. This pharmacy is basically a doctor, he is not always available here, there is an experienced pharmacist who helps patients by looking at the prescription and giving the right medicine. If a patient is confused, he gives health advice, rules for taking medicine, dosage instructions. In some cases, they provide free blood pressure measurement. However, the best customer service here is that after you buy any medicine, if it is not the one you need, you can return it here and take any other medicine according to your needs. There is no process required for medicine replacement, just come and tell the pharmacist in charge.

The pharmacy is open every day from morning to night. In case of special needs, a phone number is provided where you can contact the pharmacist and get medicine from here 24 hours a day. Since it is a pharmacy in a remote area, there are not many facilities here (parking facilities, waiting zone, etc.), but you can come here and immediately measure blood pressure, weight, sugar and if a doctor is available in this pharmacy, you can get treatment for personal diseases including gynecology, diabetes, jaundice.
Hygiene and Safety
The pharmacy always maintains a clean and tidy environment inside. However, the counters and shelves here are not always tidy. Each medicine is properly labeled. Post-pandemic safety protocols such as using sanitizers, masks for employees are not used. It is very sad that post-pandemic safety is not maintained at all in this shop, but all the products required for post-pandemic safety are sold here. Due to the lack of proper monetization by the Bangladesh government, post-pandemic safety protocols are not maintained here. I think not only pharmacies but all of us individually should maintain our own awareness and follow these safety protocols.

I really appreciated the timely service and friendly behavior of the pharmacist at this pharmacy. So whenever I buy any medicine, I definitely feel comfortable shopping from here. I was impressed by his sincere behavior.
