Le due foto che ho pubblicato possono fornire un quadro, parziale, di come la situazione sicurezza sia peggiorata a Cuba in questi ultimi anni.
La prima foto ritrae un atto vandalico nei confronti di un bancomat, non credo con l'obiettivo di rapinare denaro, la cosa sembra fatta unicamente come divertimento, probabilmente una banda di giovinastri come oramai se ne vedono molte in giro per la capitale.
Qualche colpo ben assestato con una mazza da baseball puo' causare danni di questo tipo.
Mettiamoci poi la totale assenza di polizia nella calle ed il gioco e' fatto.
Il secondo episodio e' decisamente piu' grave.
E' stato arrestato un tipo mentre cercava di svitare i bulloni per portarsi via, probabilmente per venderli, dei binari del treno.
Treno che sarebbe passato su quella linea poco dopo.
Nel caso che il "colpo" fosse riuscito il treno avrebbe rischiato di deragliare con le conseguenze che vi lascio immaginare.
Quest'ultimo episodio dimostra come per tirare su 4 soldi oramai se ne fottano di tutto e tutti, col rischio di causare una tragedia.
Mi auguro che il tipo stia al gabbio per tanto ,tanto tempo.
Il fatto e' che fino a poco tempo fa a nessuno sano o insano di mente, sarebbe venuto in mentre di prendere a bastonate un bancomat o soprattutto di portarsi via i binari dei treni sperando, spesso con successo, di farla franca.
Trattasi di beni dello stato, posso capire che qualcuno con lo stato possa avercela, in realta' il danno e' stato fatto ai cittadini, sicuramente non ai burocrati.
Ora per mesi la gente non potra' prelevare da quel bancomat, fino a quando non lo cambieranno, cosi' si allungheranno le code negli altri visto che il prelievo giornaliero consentito e' basso.
Allo stesso modo se la faccenda dei binari si fosse trasformata in tragedia a rimetterci sarebbe stata la povera gente che era sul treno sicuramente, non chi e' al fresco negli uffici governativi della capitale.
Sono comunque sintomi, segnali di un malessere che cresce e a cui non si sa come dare risposte.

VANDALISM
The two photos I posted may provide a partial picture of how the security situation has worsened in Cuba in recent years.
The first photo depicts an act of vandalism against an ATM. I don't think it was intended to steal money; it seems to have been done purely for fun, probably by a gang of young men like those you see all too often around the capital these days.
A few well-placed blows with a baseball bat can cause this kind of damage.
Add to that the total absence of police in the street, and the game is over.
The second episode is decidedly more serious.
A man was arrested while trying to unscrew the bolts to steal some train tracks, presumably to sell them.
The train was due to pass on that line shortly afterward.
Had the "heist" succeeded, the train would have risked derailing, with consequences you can imagine.
This latest episode shows how, to make a few bucks, they don't give a damn about anything and everyone, with the risk of causing a tragedy.
I hope this guy stays in jail for a long, long time.
The fact is that until recently, no one, sane or insane, would have even thought of beating up an ATM or, more importantly, taking away train tracks, hoping, often successfully, to get away with it.
These are state assets, and I can understand why someone might have a grudge against the state. In reality, the damage has been done to the citizens, certainly not to the bureaucrats.
Now, for months, people won't be able to withdraw from that ATM until they replace it, so the lines at the others will get longer, given that the daily withdrawal limit is low.
Similarly, if the train track incident had turned into a tragedy, the ones who would have lost out would have been the poor people on the train, certainly, not those locked up in government offices in the capital.
However, they are symptoms, signs of a growing malaise and to which we don't know how to respond.
