RE: Chiudete i cancelli, arrivano i gatekeepers! - Close the gates, the gatekeepers are coming! [MULTILANGUAGE]
The comparison between Turkish and Italian football is more of a provocation than a fact-based reality. I don't really believe that Turkish football, taken as a whole, is currently superior to Italian football, but the big teams in Istanbul currently have greater spending power than Italian clubs.
Recent examples such as Osimhen, who will probably end up at Galatasaray, or Archie Brown, who seemed destined for Milan but ended up at Fenerbahce, are warning signs that should not be underestimated.
It's like being on a sloping surface where all the balls, including the national team's, which is almost certainly out of the 2026 World Cup, are rolling towards the floor, but the Federation is only interested in saving one.
That's why, my friend, I was hoping for the Super League, something that would take a handful of great European teams out of the rubbish that are now FIFA, UEFA and FIGC.
Unfortunately, with the influx of money came an increasingly sloped playing field. Would the Super League have solved the problem?.. or simply moved it to a different field, with even bigger budgets and in all likelihood, the same corruption from different faces.
I think that we can only really enjoy football if we hide ourselves from how rotten the sport has become.
