A Fly In My Farm - Photography

I found this insect perching on my maize plant in my farm yesterday while spraying herbicides. At first, I thought it was a bee but looking closely, I realized it wasn't a bee. It also has some features like a housefly.

This is actually the first time I am getting across this kind of creature. I am wondering what could be it's real name.
