RE: Quando il calcio si spaccò in due: la SuperLega dimenticata del 1921 - When Football split in Two: The forgotten Super League of 1921
Hello @frafiomatale hope you are well. This was a really interesting read. It shows how the tension between sporting merit and the prestige of the big clubs is not a modern thing but has existed for over a century. The story of Noves winning the FIGC tournament while running the Super League in parallel with the top clubs is almost a reflection of the current debate in football. Ultimately, history reminds us that it is always difficult to strike a balance between merit and tradition, but that is what makes football authentic. Thanks for sharing such an insightful piece of football history. This is a game that I look forward to watching and any news related to it actually increases my interest in reading.
It is incredible to note how, even a century later, some dynamics in the world of football have remained virtually unchanged.
The big clubs have always wanted to play only among themselves, increasing their revenues, but perhaps they do not realise that by doing so, some would become small clubs compared to the biggest of the big...
Very true! Football history keeps repeating itself. Big clubs chase more money and exclusivity, but in the long run this risks damaging the balance of the sport itself. Without smaller teams, the game loses its essence and unpredictability.
