It's interesting to know that there is a culture where owning gold is mandatory in order to get married. Although possessions and financial resources are necessary, it's unfortunate that the union of two people in marriage is conditioned by the possession of gold, not by love. In Latin America, it's almost normal for mothers to give their daughters some of the clothes they wore in their respective marriages, as heirlooms and/or mementos.
