The Food For Butterflies

Greetings, friends
What do butterflies eat? I've always believed that butterflies eat the nectar they use their proboscis to find in the flowers. But this year I've reconsidered my opinion about butterfly nutrition. They are very fond of sweet juices and can even eat watermelon!
On my long-distance car trips along our highways, I sometimes have the need to stop the car and take a short walk to stretch my legs. And during one such stop, I saw an abandoned watermelon, which was covered with butterflies.
