A secret ingredient beyond science.
A secret ingredient beyond science.
Science, as people believe, has made great strides in all areas of life, and while there are new horizons for people to explore that were previously unknown, the fields of science that have accompanied humans from the creation of the world to this day, for some reason, contain many blank spots and obscure points that mycologists cannot explain.
An example of this is this photograph, which shows two species of wood-dwelling fungi that have chosen the same tree trunk for their habitat. In theory, they should compete with each other and with the many pathogens that inhabit rotten wood. However, there are no sterile conditions there, which you will learn about if you decide to grow mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and button mushrooms in particular.
Yes, if you're so inclined, you'll learn a lot about preparing the substrate, about cold and hot treatments with lime and heat, and sometimes you'll be advised to use chlorine bleach or herbicides.
It's believed that mushroom mycelium grows more slowly than mold, and therefore has a harder time conquering their habitat.
You'll learn the scientifically determined proportions of the necessary chemicals, but even this doesn't guarantee that the substrate won't contain foreign flora that will destroy the mycelium.
So, none of these recipes contain a secret ingredient that could be summed up as a "will to live."
This ingredient, for now, is beyond the reach of modern science.
