That's precisely the reason I like to stay in my own small bubble now. Because of this post, I looked up at the profile of that blogger+curator and my head spun to see what kind of content she is curating. She could've done better but then it takes patience and time to find quality content. Integrity, too; I couldn't check if it was there in this particular case.
Also, it's nothing new that people always boot-lick those with higher power so is the case with this user because of her high-profile relationship. Honestly and shockingly, stuff like this doesn't bother me as much as it did a few years ago. This is happening all over the platform. There are very few authentic and genuine people left. By that, I don't mean who doesn't power down. For me, authenticity goes beyond the numbers. If you or chriddi power down today for any reason, you people will still be one of the most genuine for me.
What makes me sad is that if a Pakistani was involved in this particular case, he/she would have long been labelled a gold-digger, but this time it's not a Pakistani... or a Nigerian.
Well, if I may add:
She can be quite intimidating too… I’m referring to that incident where she seemed a bit insecure—or perhaps jealous—and ended up threatening another female blogger from her own country. (You might remember it; I believe I shared the comment with you before she edited it.)
To such an extent, I think no one dares approach her boyfriend for help—whether it’s about chain issues, support, or even a little harmless flirting (everyone should be free to do that, right? Lol. I'm pointing towards that specific event)—especially the females, without first getting her permission. That’s just my take.
Anyway, no one speaks up for fear of being downvoted. So much for authenticity and integrity on this platform. This particular situationship has really thrown things off balance at multiple points. I’m not even sure if the high-profile account is aware of it—or of the consequences. He might be completely oblivious…
But we see it—and it’s hard to miss.
