Inter Milan 4-3 Barcelona

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 months ago

The second leg of this semi final was played today in Milan at Giuseppe Meazza stadium. The first leg finished 3-3 in Barcelona. This was expected to be a difficult game and the winner was not a given, both showed good attack and bad defense in their first game, so here the one thing that could change things, apparently was the crowd in the stadium. Actually I don't think the crowd did much.

The first half started with both teams having good ball possession and both intent on scoring the first goal. Barcelona had more control but Inter were very dangerous in their attacks. And again we had a mistake an Olmos lost ball in midfield and Inter ran the ball well ending it in Martinez feet, he didn't miss. Barcelona then controlled the ball more but still Inter looked the more dangerous and in the last minute they got a penalty, the referee did not see it but VAR called him up. Personally I think it was the right decision. Inter scored the penalty so 2-0 when the first half ended.

But then in the second half, somehow, Inter lost their defensive role and Barcelona scored two quite easy goals. In this half we had the referee call a penalty for Barcelona but VAR decided it was outside the box, again I think it was the right call. Near the 90th minute they scored their third goal and it seemed the game was settled. But again a Barcelona defensive error allowed Inter to score the draw and sent the game to thirty extra minutes.

About nine minutes into the first extra time half another Barcelona defensive error cost them the fourth goal. The score would not move anymore and Inter is in Munich. The press says it was a game for the ages, well a 4-3 result is not easy to see in semi finals, but actually the game was not as good as it seems. Seven goals and all of them due to excessive defending errors. I saw the same in the first game, neither teams defense is too solid. And the thing is, I can understand Barcelona which mostly relies on its attacking prowess, but Inter is a traditional Italian team, defense is their game.

I think Inter went through deservedly, of course Barcelona people are upset with the referee, after all, two of his decisions affected the score directly. And even though I think both calls were correct I can understand Barcelona fans questioning them.

Tomorrow Paris Saint Germain vs Arsenal. PSG have the lead having won 0-1 at Emirates stadium. But that is pretty much a meager advantage. I think PSG should make it through but I am placing no bets on it.
