Flowers Close-up
Photography is also art – a creative art.
Everyone can take a photograph. But to take a photograph that stands out, the photographer has to consider the lighting, the angle, the subject/object – the composition, even where to place the camera, when to press the button. All these need a good eye and some creativity. Above all, a photographer has to be very patient.
Being patient is not one of my virtues. That is why I am not very into photography, although I do appreciate a nice photo. Thankfully, nowadays we always have our phone camera with us. So, it is easy to whip out the camera and have a shot at whatever catches our eyes. And that’s what I do. If I come across something that is nice, I will take a picture of it.
Of course, what I deem nice might not be another’s idea of nice. However, photography, like art, is also a very personal thing. Why did you take the photo? What does the photo mean to you? What did you see? What was going through your mind at that moment when you took the photo? Every photo, like every painting, has a story behind it.
I am sure there are numerous occasions when you come across people photographing an object and you go, “Really, he/she is taking photos of a rock?” It might be seemingly meaningless to you, but to the photographer, the rock might mean something. There is a personal reason behind why he took the photo.
Sometimes we see beauty and creativity in a piece of artwork, but others do not see the same. And like the artist who paints and creates for himself, the photographer will take photos that have meaning for him.
Anyhow, I took some close-ups of flowers with my cell phone recently. I think they turned out quite well and I am extremely pleased with them.
This is ‘Queen of the Night’ also known as Epiphyllum oxypetalum.
Lily flower, also known as ‘Lilum’.
Some roses...
And a couple of Dahlias
I think the photos turned out nicely - for a phone camera. What do you think?
