LONDON, UK — The international premiere of Saving Stuckism: A to Zed, a new art documentary about authenticity and collaboration in the Stuckist movement, will stream globally on YouTube on Saturday, September 20, 2025, beginning at 8 p.m. BST (British Summer Time). The film will remain available for only 24 hours before it is withdrawn for entry into international film festivals. The documentary follows American painter Ron Throop, who in April 2025 traveled to Muswell Hill, North London, to work and commune with fellow Stuckist artists. Among them were Edgeworth Johnstone of Muswell Hill, Emma Pugmire of nearby Crouch End, and Charles Thomson, co-founder of Stuckism, from East Finchley. Together, with Donald Guy, they painted, debated, and collaborated in the true spirit of international Stuckism. While centered on the process of painting and collaboration, Saving Stuckism: A to Zed is also a meditation on authenticity in art. The film explores the persistence of the Stuckist spirit—artists who resist artifice and embrace sincerity—while raising critical questions about the future of painting as a way of life. Created collaboratively by artists rather than professional filmmakers, the documentary embodies the movement’s spirit of independence. It is as much a work of art as a record of art-making, situating itself within an alternative lineage of artistic history-making.
