Moving From Vision To Victory
Do dreams really come true? A lot of people have asked and are asking this question. Well, to be very sincere, they do come true. Dreams are like the sparks that can ignite the flames of human potentials. More often than not, dreams can begin as simple visions in the mind, which may often appear so fragile or even look impossible at the onset. However, throughout history and even in our present time, we have seen countless proofs that point to the fact that dreams are not just fancy thoughts, but they are the blueprint for reality, which wait earnestly for actions to be put in place to bring them to life. That is, it is your actions that will turn your vision to victory - your dreams to reality.

While growing up, I had a friend who had always wanted to be in the military; Navy particularly. He got so passionate about it that he would talk about it to the point that we nicknamed him "Captain Water." In fact, he was the one who taught many of us how to swim, because of his passion about anything relating to water. When we finished from secondary school, he applied for the Defence Academy but sadly, he was not taken. It was not long, the Direct Short Service recruitment portal opened for Navy, he applied, but again, he was denied. At that point, he was almost getting frustrated and was almost thinking that his dream of being in the Navy will not become a reality.
It got so bad that his people asked him to write the University entrance exam and go to university to study another course. He was almost considering it, then something adorable happened. He went to the local borehole to fetch water because it was the dry season and almost everyone ran out of water. The queue was much, so he patiently waited for about 40mins to get to his turn. When it was about his turn, an elderly woman walked to the queue with an empty gallon to fetch water. He thought to himself how the woman was going to wait that long to fetch water, so he gave her his spot and took his own gallon back to the start of the queue. He helped the elderly woman to fetch the water and even took it back home for her since he would have to wait for more minutes again.
When he dropped the water for the woman, she asked him what he is doing at the moment, then he explained his challenges to her and how he wanted to enter the Defence Academy. The woman told him that her son is the admission officer in the Defence Academy and he will be coming home the next week to see her. She asked the young boy to come to her house next week to meet with her son. On that day, he dressed well and made a photocopy of his credentials to meet with the woman's son. Long story cut shot, that was how his name came out in the supplementary list of the Defence Academy. At the moment he is a commissioned officer in the Navy. This goes to prove that dreams are not just mere thoughts, they can actually come to reality.
It is worthy to note that turning your dreams into reality does not only involve hoping, but it also includes taking the necessary actions to back up your hope. Having a dream without putting in actions will just end as mere fantasy. From the story of my friend that I shared earlier, you will understand that he actually applied for the Defence Academy, and that was why he was helped in the supplementary list. Imagine if he did not apply at all, the woman's son would not have anything to help him with. It is the action that you put into your dream that will turn it to reality.

As you put in the actions, you also need to believe in yourself. Then believe in your abilities to achieve success. It is your inner conviction of success that will fuel your resilience and your determination, which makes you to keep going even if the world doubts you. In addition to this, you also need to be in the company of people who genuinely want to see you succeed. The company you keep can either help you achieve your dream or prevent it from being actualised. Do not stay with the people who doubt your vision or try to discourage you from your dreams, rather stay with the people who will encourage you to take steps towards actualising your dreams.
