Success Rules 101
Success will definitely require you to observe some rules and some principles. There is no way you will achieve something outstanding and sustain it without putting in work. The truth is that success is not exclusively preserved for a few selected people - it can be achieved by anyone who would give it what it takes. The people who have succeeded in various fields of human endeavour did something to get them there. If you would do the same thing as the people that succeeded did, you would still get the same result as they did. Here, we shall take a look at some of the success rules and strategies that can be applied in various aspects of life.

The first rule is to plan before you act. Action is good definitely, but you have to have a plan before you can act. Have you ever seen a sailor that sets out to sail without a compass? That is how taking action without planning makes you look like. Without planning, even if you move fast, it may not be an added advantage because you may not even be on the right course. You have to take time to make a plan, map your steps, create a course of action, foresee challenges, and even get prepared for opportunities. It takes a clean and clear plan to be able to turn your efforts into progress, so that they will not be futile.
The next rule is to learn before you make decision. You have to understand that every decision you make carries weight, and it may not leave you the same way after you have made it. Before you choose a path, always learn, seek advice, gather enough information and understand the facts behind it. The more you learn, the more you replace fear with confidence, and the more your decisions will be better. When you do what you know, you will find a lot of ease in it.
The third rule is to respect before you judge. Trust me, you do not know what kind of challenges and battles that people are fighting. If you are in their position, you may even have done far greater and worse than what you are judging them for. Learn to approach people with humanity, respect, and kindness, instead of judging them quickly based on their actions. You have to understand that respecting someone does not mean that you have agreed with them, rather it means that you have valued humanity above ego.
The fourth rule is to dream and imagine before you achieve. The great achievements that you see today did not just fall from the sky, they started as imagination and thoughts. You can only achieve what you have imagined in your heart. It is your imagination that will set the stage for your achievements in life. If only you can see it with the eyes of the mind, and you believe it from within your heart, then you can achieve it.

The 5th rule relates to leadership: serve before you lead. The best form of leadership is by working alongside your teammates, not above them. As a leader, your duty is not to impose your wish on your people, nor is it a "do as I say" process, rather it is about empathy, respect, and loyalty. If the people you are leading know that you are part of them and that you also have their welfare at heart, they will not have a problem being led. To lead effectively, you have to put yourself in the position of the people and know what they feel.
The final rule that we will be looking at here is; reflect on things before you move on. When you conclude a phase of your life, or even an activity or a task, do not be too quick to rush to the next phase. Take a moment to celebrate your wins. Reflect on the lessons learnt. Even if you made a loss, understand why you did it, so you can learn. It is by reflection that you will be able to turn your past into a potent guide for your future.
