Cannes: cultivo y cuidado de la hermosa planta de flores

The Canna is a plant belonging to the Cannaceae family. It's part of the Zingiberales order. This genus has over fifty kinds of leafy plants. They naturally grow in Central and South America, India, and China.

Portuguese sailors brought them to Europe in the 1500s. People only started growing them widely in the 1600s. The word "canna" comes from Greek and means "reed." Canna stems do look like reeds. In Latin, "canna" means "pipe."

An old story tells of canna flowers growing where a chief burned a peace treaty. He had rolled it into a tube. This led to a bad war. The bright red petals looked like fire or spilled blood from that fight.

Canna plants are pretty even before they flower. Their shaped leaves come in amazing colors. These leaves are worth noticing. But then the cannas bloom.

Now, let's talk about the downsides. We found two faults with these lovely plants. They cannot survive winter outdoors. Also, they do not have a scent.
